In regards to 6" GI Joe, I can't figure out why Hasbro hasn't at least snuck in a 'Marvel Comics deco' Snake-Eyes in the Legends line, just to see what happens.
I really like Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors but I'm not sure I want to see it rebooted if it looses it's 80's design.
I don't think you can reboot it and NOT perform a comprehensive redesign; as a function of that, you'd lose a good amount of the original aesthetic. That said, I'm not sure how much of the resigns were that "80s"?
Jayce had had mullet and a uniform with a dozen straps and shoulder pads, Flora wore pink and green with her collar turned up. The only thing missing was someone wearing fingerless gloves. But seriously, (I agree with you) in simplifying the art style to today's standards so many of the fine details (like Jayce's straps) would be lost. I don't want those 80's touches to be gone. I still have a bad taste in my mouth from Keith cutting his hair in Voltron Force.
Ah, I see where you're coming from. I was thinking strictly in terms of the vehicles, not the pilots.
MASK, but put them in the Transformers line as triple changers and have the pilots be like the Titan/Prime masters.
As someone who only ever found ONE Exo Squad toy in the stores, ever, and as someone who thinks the show STILL holds up today, I would LOVE a Soul of Chogokin Exo Squad toy line. Hey, sky’s the limit, right?
Mighty Orbots... ok technically it wouldn't be a revival, since it never got a toy line in the first place, but the cartoon was begging for some toys but was unceremoniously cut short. One of the best theme songs of any cartoon ever. (skip to 45sec for the song)
Y'all talking about the Mighty Orbots should see this toy: Jumbo Robert · Mecha Zone Robots Store · Online Store Powered by Storenvy
They could do those WAY better now than back in the day, and those were good toys THEN. Just imagine exo-frames built to the standard of Soul Of Chogokin or Transformers Masterpiece. Instead of the original mini-fig pilots, characters done in 3 3/4.
Although it wasn't my favorite, I'm sad my kids don't have a current incarnation of MOTU. They only recognize He-Man from the What's Going On clip. Hasbro needs to do something with MASK. Bring it back as part of Transformers, GI Joe, or a connection between the two in a combined crossover line. Centurions is another great line with a good gimmick Hasbro could revisit, instead we got Stretch Armstrong.
I literally was going to post the same thing. M.A.S.K., with Marvel Legendesque figures. I would love if the Boulder Hill playset was modernized, or even reissued. I never understood how M.A.S.K never caught on like TF, a bunch of us had the toys, my cousin had EVERY. FREAKING. ONE. We hated him lol. It was basically GI Joe meets Transformers , with cool masks. Hell, one of my dreams is to ne a writer on a reboot MASK as a Netflix series.
The Retro Mega Man figures. We were supposed to get toys of Ice Man, Guts Man and I think Quick Man, but never did. And I never could find Proto Man in stores.
