Should I get Xtransbots Andras, or FT Lupus?

    Price is a non issue.
Scale / Cartoon accuracy is mostly a non-issue.

    Andras:
I like Andras in both modes, and I'm probably one of the few who appreciate the sweep vehicle design for its simplicity in looking alien / robotic / unconventional.
What bothers me is that I feel like some of the details aren't a hard chisel but more soft or dull, and that the quality might feel kinda meh. I don't just mean the fact that it won't break, but the actual feel of the plastic. My example of the preferred feel is MasterMade figs, GT Gravity Builder, Despotron, Carnifax feel, over something more on the TFC feel of a few figures, or the igear Raptors (even though I still love those figures).

I am also getting FT Sovereign and feel I will then need a Scourge and Cyclonus eventually... Though perhaps waiting would reveal more options in some wave of Scourge wars, and Cyclonus wars.
Until then, though, my collection will only have classics Cyclonus, Generations Scourge, and TR Scourge to flank him, which would probably annoy me a lot with the size difference.
Alternatively, having a Scourge and no Cyclonus would also feel like a half complete Gestalt (I don't like Eligios or whatever, not feeling that Cyclonus much at all).

    Main issue:
Not sure if it will wow me in hand with its looks, and that I will find it to cheapish in the feel of it, and that I will find the kibble very annoying over time. This can be mitigated if I know the wings can look good in a flight mode, and also offer options for neutral or mid action stances.

    Lupus:
Right off the bat, I don't much care for the lack of detail, but I really like the proportions, and the chunkiness. I love the wolf mode most, and feel it will be a ton of fun to pose dynamically. I think its a vicious beast mode while looking abstract as a wolf, and more alien robot in that respect. The wolf head is awesome. It also looks like the quality is going to be much superior on Lupus overall.

Lack of poseability in bot mode kind of bugs me, and when it comes to displaying it with Mindwipe and Skullcruncher, I am very happy with FPs and Toyworlds, and I do not intend to change those out. In this case, Lupus will be the biggest, and I always felt he should be the same, or the smallest, I'm not sure why. I don't give a shit about toon accuracy whatsoever, I just want things to look right in regards to who would be leaner / bulkier / etc.

    Main issue:
I fear I will find the lack of details overbearing and feel he is kind of bland in robot mode. Also, I would like to know QC issues are pretty much non-existant (I heard the sliding cockpit is much more of a non-issue now that it has been released). Semi-secondary issue is that I am not extremely unhappy with UUUU except that he has kind of crappy back legs for posing in animal mode.

Would you mind helping me make up my mind? Thanks in advance guys and gals.

I think Andras is probably one of the best of the KFC/XTrans figures I own. He's good plastic and just oozes character. The feet transformation is a little tricky but hardly anything to be an issue really. Watch a video if you're not sure but I managed it ok.

Maybe I'm biased because I'm not a big headmaster fan but I think Andras is a really good figure. Be hard for anyone to beat it with another version of Scourge IMO.

The headmaster aspect doesn't matter much to me, although I do like the way it makes the full robot mode seem to have a large and also more complex looking noggin. This one is also quite a cut above the average headmaster as he seems to have some great poseability - Although this all still doesn't matter that much. It is almost as irrelevant as Andras' targetmaster, but obviously much superior if one cares for those things.

You make a good point about the fact that I do doubt there could be much better a sweep ever made in overall look. I just keep returning to the wings in my head and feeling they are going to be clunky, and a nagging reminder of a more shellformer aspect to everything. I haven't watched much actual transformation vids, just the other parts of reviews. If there is no better scourge in a good half a year or so, I will probably pull the trigger, but this question is actually just for right now. So what would be best for right now. Scourge does look really METAL. The goatee, the claws... He looks mean. Wierdwolf by contrast has a much simpler head and expression, but I am kind of a sucker for square eyes/visors.

FT's makes good stuff, I'm a fan but those wings on Andras are not an issue except they're huge when you spread them out. He needs a little room to display.

Good to know, thanks! Those recent pics of Eligos are making me want both Scourge and Eligos now... maybe I shouldn't make purchase decisions while buzzed.

Not a fair comparison. 1st of all many LUPUS was barely released days ago so not enough people had to judge it. You are going to get people that don't have it voting up ANDRAS for that specific reason.

I have Zero experience with X-transbots, but have yet to be disappointed by any Figure I've bought from Fanstoys.

Andras if you want a mp Scourge who likely won't be beaten until FT make one (if they do)

Lupus if you want a mp Weirdwolf who likely won't be beaten until Maketoys or XTB make one (if they do).

Andras is really good but has a dodgy foot transformation from hell. Lupus, mine hasn't come yet so can't comment, but FT is usually solid.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I am still pretty split in my head of what I would like to get, but since so many people DO enjoy Andras and don't have much to say in the way of negative things, I will likely go with Andras, and pick up Lupus down the line at some point.

I like andras a lot, but it is a bit of a shell former, I like andras, because he revived my interest in season three and movie collection

    I like Andras better.
But I don't think it would be a better purchase.
I answered FT but I'd buy Andras anyways

Okay I lied. I actually pulled the trigger on Lupus (first). So far I am getting a lot of joy out of this figure that I did not expect. First Fanstoys figure too. I think I just really love chunky boxy robots. I love the beast mode too.

The canopy clicks into a spot to keep it up, and it won't slide down unless you push the section in. That said, it isn't extremely hard to push it in, but you won't run into the problem much unless you grab him by the body with your fingers and hand wrapped around the entire section. Then, that force might be enough to click it out of position. I will likely add some future to whatever joints I can find to make it even tougher just because I like my figures to be as robust as possible.

I've recently became an FT fanboy, but Lupus is just too basic for my tastes. Andras is the one I'd go for, his looks could kill and if you get cyclonus maaaaaaaan that's a great look!!!

I would get Andras because Scourge is one of my favourite designs, and he's a core season 3/movie character.

If I lived close to one of the retailers that carries 3P transformers I'd be broke.
