Like the title says, what do you prefer? Personally, I prefer Bluestreak. It came first, and it fits the character better.

Well to be honest, I always thought these were different characters with similar names, but I guess I'll have to get behind a Pontiac & go for Silverstreak. :)

Silverstreak, since I always felt it fit his personality better and sounds cool while Bluestreak sounds weird and gets me thinking of Sonic the Hedgehog.

I prefer the Japanese Streak. But between your two options, Bluestreak. Better flow and one less syllable.

Being that I grew up watching the show on TV, it's hard for me to accept names used outside of it, so Bluestreak for me, I guess. However, if trademark issues are at play, I'm cool with whatever name Hasbro can put on a character so long as it is a close as possible to the original.

I still prefer Hot Rod to Rodimus--I just can't get myself to call him Rodimus. It doesn't help when the cartoon used Rodimus for Rodimus Prime like it did Prime for Optimus Prime, and now Prime has become a title/rank rather than a name—oh, how I miss simpler times.

I know what you mean. To me, Hot Rod is the "turbo reving young punk" while Rodimus is the chosen one.

Would prefer the Bluestreak name if he was actually blue, but since he's always just been silver with some touches of black via the G1 continuity (save the Diaclone speeches), the Silverstreak name makes the most sense. Even as a kid I called him Silverstreak since I never understood the "blue" part in his name.

Well, "Bluestreak" comes from his personality and abilities - "blue streak" is a phrase that means excessive speed, and it's reflected in Bluestreak by his constant chatting (to "talk a blue streak" is a phrase, see), and in the fact that he's one of the fastest of the original 84 Autobots. That said, as evocative and clever a name as it is, Budiansky DID almost certainly develop it based on the fact that he was given pictures of the blue Diaclone Bluestreak, rather than the finalized silver deco we got. "Silverstreak", on the other hand, just comes from his physical appearance, but there's something very stylish about it as a name, a nice alliterative sibilant sound that conveys the idea of physical speed better than "Bluestreak" with a nice melodic three-syllable cadence... but you lose the clever double-meaning. It's a bit of a toss up.

(His Japanese name's just abbreviated Engrish rubbish.)

For some reason, I prefer the Silverstreak name when referring to the Alternator, in kind of a "Bumblebee-to-Goldbug" name-reflecting-the-upgrade kind of way.

Silverstreak. It should be like that because I barely notice any blue on him. Silverstreak sutes him well

The way I see it, Bluestreak has nothing to do with blue. Seriously, google it out. Actually, Silverstreak makes no sense and goes against his tech-spec, because he's a motormouth.

*still waiting for a KO blue bluestreak...

Bluestreak. It just seems to fit, for some reason. Silverstreak just kinda slurs for some reason. I'm happy with my Blue!

I like "Bluestreak" a bit better, but both are plenty adequate.
