The Titans Return one is just Blitzwing. Even if you're OK with that, he severely lacks paint.

The Classics version is truly the only classic version. They went for the gun and I appreciate the effort. The colors aren't perfect, but they made them work. The Henkei version is magnificent for what it is. The wings are unfortunate but give him presence at the same time.

Hegemon is the best if we include 3rd parties, but I don't know if you lean that way, and if you do it really opens it to a lot of other great choices out there right now.

I love the Combiner Wars leader, especially for it's paint. It is a great design - but it isn't a gun. There have been so many tanks now that I think that 2007 gun is really special in hindsight.

While we are on the subject, what 3p Megatrons are at or near Voyager scale? Btw I use Classics Megs but custom painted in G1 colors.

Henkei/United. Or CW if you don't care about size.

IF Bold Forms finally decides to release Gladius the Dark Emperor, he looks promising. Triple changer gun and tank modes, and voyager scale, I believe.

    Runner up is Getatron.

Combiner Wars. Honestly he's the only "Classics" Megatron that really looks like G1 Megatron to me.

The TR one looks okay but all the compromising that went into putting the jet mode in there (and to make him work as Blitzwing and Megatron simultaneously) and severe lack of paint make him just "blah" to me. I think the Classics voyager is awful. The Takara Henkei (or United...can't remember which line) version has better colors...but it doesn't take away the giant kibble and what I think is kind of an odd-looking, very not-G1 robot mode.

    Thanks all, for the input.

I've been out the loop a bit as I wasn't getting any email alerts, but I went with Combiner Wars Megatron. He is a bit thin, but the size makes him look like a dominating leader should.

For me, there have YET to be a decent CHUG Megatron. Currently I am using the WfC Megatron as my CHUG Megatron.

TR Megatron might become a good CHUG / neo G1 Megatron, but I'll have to take a wait and see.

Hegemon, rioter despotron, mega steel granville, and the new OS KO GT Megatron are the four I can think of. There may be more.

    CW megs.
    + Fantastic head sculpt
    + Fun to Transform
    + Real Treads
+ Rotating / collaspable shooting turret
    + Nastalgic G2 Megs Feel
    + Metallic Silver all over

    - Wonky Shoulders
    - Back of head visible on underside
    - Feet

Not perfect, but much more satisfying in hand than the pictures suggest.

Nope, MP unfortunately. Otherwise he would've been perfect for Classics... both a tank AND a gun.

    Hegemon for Classics :thumb

Voyager scale... he's as tall as Generations Blitzwing and FoC Soundwave.

Well since I haven't seen him yet, but Titans Returns Megatron is good if you have WFC Megatron as your CHUG Megatron since 2011 and want to replace him.

I use Granville for that. Gives me a terminator tank vibe. As far as the poll goes, I absolutely love the CW one. I have him as my MP Megatron with upgrades of course
