    Grimlock (2014) - Transformers - TFW2005

According to TFW's own resource page only 4 different MP Grimlocks have been made. IIRC the early Tak-Tom 2009 Grimlocks had a flaw where a screw would chip the chrome in his tail or something like that. And (IIRC, again) that flaw got corrected later anyway.

The latest Hasbro Grimlock has a bit of mould degradation so I'd rule it out, unless cost is a big factor.

So I would say pick between Tak-Toms first effort, their Comic colours version and the first Hasbro Grimlock, and really your choice should just depend on which colours you prefer.

Personally, I love the version I got and that was Takara's first run Grimlock and I love the fact he has some pretty sharp plastic teeth instead of foam ones like Takara's. The only drawback is I'm sure a lot of people would prefer the crown over the apron, tray, and drinks. So I'd recommend Takara's first run or Hasbro's first release from a few years ago.

    Starscream looks nothing like Grimlock..............:lol

(I know you mean grimlock, but before Hasbro/takara started renumbering it was starscreams designation)

I've got the initial TT release, and I quite like him, but he is pretty floppy (mine is, anyway). I do think he looks a bit nicer than the Hasbro version though. That said, I'm very curious to see FansToys take on him. Now, I fully support FansToys dinobots, indeed it is the only third party that I'm on board with, but if I was Takara, I'd be at least thinking of updating Grimlock, and making him as big and bulky as upcoming MP Magus. From a competition vantage-point, it would put FT dinobots out of scale and open the possibility that TT might make more. But that's a whole other can of worms.

I wanted to show some comparison shots between 2014 Tru Hasbro Vs Takara Reissue Asia Exclusive Vs 2010 Tru Hasbro.

I have the Hasbro Asia reissue with the flame sword and the most recent Hasbro USA reissue (MP-03). The flame sword version certainly looks better with the slightly darker grey plastic compared to the lighter grey used for the latest Hasbro release, BUT on that one the back piece that folds into the middle part of his right foot is completely loose and will flop down if you pick him up. The hips on both are kinda weak and they will do the splits if not positioned correctly. Honestly, if money is an issue, just track down the latest Hasbro release which will run about a hundred less than the next least expensive option.

I have the original Takara release, it'll do until Fans Toys make theirs.

The best is the Takara version with all of the accessories. A lot of love and thought went into that guy and he's a truly collectable Masterpiece. The latest editiion of that has the flame accessories and a crown so he's truly complete.

I really like the 2010 Hasbro version. Tight joints all over and a few additional paint apps. The teeth do not look or feel rounded in hand either. Much better than the more recent release. But at retail price, if you can find one, the new version is well worth picking up. Never had any Takara version of him.

And given the glut of accessories he has, you can near enough display him as part of any G1 continuity from comic to cartoon and from serious badass to complete joke.

The cheapest one. While the grey-er plastic of any of the Takara versions does look better the price premium isn't worth it IMHO.

    The mold is just dated.
