Buffy the Vampire Slayer vs Smallville

    Both series has:

-main character is "superhero/heroine" with friends and family supporting him/her + keeping secret identity
    -good supporting characters
    -chicks
    -hunks
    -nerds
    -high school
    -university
    -action/violence/blood (whatever gets you going)
    -drama
    -romance
    -humor
    -demons
    -vampires
    -cyborgs
    -creatures
    -freaks
    -death
    -story arcs
-good plots (some better than others within the same series)
    -pop culture references

I maybe early since Smallville isn't completed yet.

Either way, cast your vote...I will not play favoritism, and will vote when there's at least 5 votes.

    Feel free to discuss

Buffy no contest. The crap that is Smallville will NEVER compare to BTVS.

But a better reason is character development. The characters in Buffy actually evolved over the course of the show's run. Smallville has ZERO character development. Clark, Lana, Lex, and all the main characters are the same today as they were in the first episode.

And isn't the guy playing Clark about 30 now? I know that's always a problem with supposedly teen characters, but the Buffy cast at least used some women small enough that in their 20s they believably looked like teenagers. Haven't they kind of gone past the point of "these are Superman's adventures when he was growing up"? He's grown up! Give the poor bastard the cape!

I agree with almost everything you said. I think Lex has had quite a bit of character development. The show's almost more about his descent into villainy than Clark's ascent to becoming Superman.

But there's no contest. Buffy beats Smallville hands down. Clever writing, great characters and a wonderful universe all make Buffy great. Smallville deviates too much from it's own source material to be considered in the same class as Buffy.

    Smallville

I stopped caring about Buffy after season 3 when Angel left. And Smallville got Green Arrow and Supergirl, my two fave DC characters.

Never watched Buffy, but anyone that still thinks that Smallville is actually any good doesen't deserve to own a TV.

Buffy wins easily in this match-up, though I'd add that Buffy does have its problems.

Watch Season 2 for the show at it's best.

As for Smallville, someone nailed it with the lack of character development. No need to add anything further.

Buffy. Smallville was never interesting enough to keep me around other than watching an episode a year or so.
