Okay here's my situation. I'm looking to get an Ironhide for my MPM shelf but I'm in a conflict. I could get the official MPM-6 from HasTak but it's got a pretty substantial reputation around it and I'm a bit hesitant considering all I've heard about the QC issues. On the other hand I may buy a third party knockoff from Aliexpress and hope most of those issues are absolved, and if not I can buy the upgrade kit for him. However, I could instead get the Black Mamba Weaponeer. The only issue I find with this option is that I'm not too sure how the scale works out for the display. Give me thoughts on which works best - struggling for a decision here.
In my opinion, get the official and the DNA kit for him. It makes him rock solid. He looks fantastic and now will stay together perfectly! If you go that route, BBTS has him on sale right now for $50! Transformers Masterpiece Movie Series MPM-6 Ironhide
I'm in your same situation, I love the Characters Ironhide in the movies and I collect Mpms. I also can't figure out which figure is the best! The official MPM need the dna Kit. Without Kit I would never buy it, but the kit makes him quite good... The bmb version is cheaper and better painted, plus it has Led lights and I like them. I think it also has less problems than mpm, still not perfect anyway. The biggest problem to me is anyway scale: the official mpm is short in bot mode but scale quite good in altmode (maybe an half centimeter too little). The bmb version scales good in botmode but is probably too big in altmode (at least in comparison with Weijiang Black Apple prime, which is my mpm prime). That's why I don't plan to buy Ironhide at the moment (there are still many other figure that miss in my collection!!) And I hope that the Black Apple Ironhide comes quickly, as he seems to solve both scale and qc problems....
I'm right with you on this, Black Apple's Ironhide fixes all the problem's the MPM has with its shoulders and arms panels AND (as you say) it might scale better with Prime in both modes! Just have to hope it doesn't take too long to release...
I went and got the official Ironhide and ordered an upgrade kit alongside it - as it would end up being cheaper from a sale on BBTS. Now to try and look into a Blackout and Brawl for the MPM shelf.
well blackout only has 1 option MP wise, which is Weijiang's. As for brawl, you have either black mamba or weijiang. Black mamba being based around the ss mold and cheaper, but quality is a bit less, while weijiang is based on the leader mold and is more expensive but built a lot better.
They both have a pretty small difference in hight (half a head or less) so it comes down more to which you like the look of more.
