I recently had to pick ONE G1 Megs (all I could budget for), and it's a tough decision. Do I go for loose original Japanese G1? TFC #6? Encore? I had the added issue of being in Australia - customs hate anything that looks like a gun, and are known for trashing stuff (forget keeping something MIB if their X-ray shows a gun profile...), so I also had to source from within Aus (read: $$$) I went for TFC as it seemed to be the "most complete" option, and had the firing capability , though lacking the ephemeral (true or not) conviction that the original Japanese manufactured ones are somehow better (rightly or wrongly, I tend to think they are). It would also give me cartoon correct colours (ie not black e-hobby, cool as it is). Has anyone else had to limit themselves to just one Megatron? If so, which one? PS - if it hasn't already come up here - think you guys have it bad with orange plugs? MP-05 totally banned in most states here!!
I'd go bookstyle. I think you get the most for the money (extra weapons, mousepad, etc), and originals can get pretty junky.
Honestly, if given the choice I'd go reissue everytime. Nothing beats that fresh feeling of a new 'old' toy and you get to apply the labels to your liking. IMO originals aren't all they're cracked up to be when speaking of Antique Toys.
bookstyle. My megatron may be a original but it has no weapons and the stickers are faded. The new black reissue looks solid. Its unique and dark But to the casual fan it looks like megatron should.
You went for the right one, more accessories than Encore, and better QC too. I love Megs and have several of him, but if I could keep only one, it would be MC-13 UNCLE.
Just like everyone else is saying: Book-style. Its got more stuff than Encore no matter what way you look at it. Plus you get the nifty TF mousepad! =D
