Which film had the best marketing campaign in your opinion? We are not talking about the quality of the films themselves, but how do you feel about the marketing for each one, which of them did the best to excite you and make you wanna see it opening night, buy merch, etc. ? TLK had a pretty big marketing campaign but I think they showed too much and LIED too much in it. Oh, and how would you like the RotB marketing do be handled?

probably age of extinction for me. Just a bunch of things advertised for the film like the dinobots, Galvatron, Lockdown's gun face, and more just really made me hyped to go see it. I was really interested to see what they would do with all the aforementioned characters and more. I do think the movie is terrible now, but I can't deny that I was hyped to see it lol

ROTF. The marketing was insane for that movie. TV commercials for it were everywhere. Anytime you would enter a store, you'd probably see something related to ROTF.

Worst has to be 4. Which is saying something cause it’s marketing wasn’t bad by any means.

I remember how the first trailer made the movie look like it was gonna be so dark compared to the first

I mean, parts of it certainly were. The robot deaths are a lot gorier, a soldier gets decapitated on screen, the Fallen gets his face torn off, and Prime begins his slow descent into madness

I'll never forget the first time I saw this teaser:

To this day, it still gives me chills.

True, but the overall tone was all over the place and the humor was definitely goofier

Dark of the moon is my favourite. The trailers are amazing and it was built up as a epic finale. Plus it didn't spoil anything in the movie.

Dark of the moon's was pretty damn good. I remember everyone hyped about Shockwave (sigh) and dissecting every frame of a new tv spot. Didn't even have the slightest clue Sentinel was the true big bad.

I only experienced the marketing of TLK and BB; I don't know how much I could say about them, but if ROTB gets a marketing similar to that of TLK, I'm well served

I have to admit that nothing for ROTF-onward really stands out distinctly. The mystique and curiosity leading up to the first movie maybe every drop of marketing stand out. Sure, we as hardcore TF nerds combed over all the marketing for every film, but TF07 was a different level. Once we saw that ROTF was basically going to be largely more of the same, the mystique wore off a bit. There was some interest for AOE though because we didn't know how much of a soft reboot it was going to be after DOTM ended things pretty definitely.

Of the three I remember living through, Bumblebee was probably the worst.

If I had to rank them:
    1. ROTF
    2. AOE
    3. DOTM
    4. TLK
    5. Bumblebee

I wasn’t much into TF’s when the ‘07 movie was getting released, so I don’t remember much about it.

Bumblebee definitely had the worst in recent memory. I don’t remember there being much marketing at all, which I attribute the lower budget it had. TLK did some new things (trailer six months out, concept art 1 year out) that hooked me at first, but something about that period didn’t stick with me. Possibly burnt out in the movies by then.

ROTF, DOTM, and AOE did something though that really kept me hyped for the films from the first trailer all the way through to release.

You can REALLY see that RotF was made during a writers strike (and an economic crisis to boot!), this movies tone was all over the map. It has moments that try to be gradious and meaningful, but then has dick jokes, fart jokes and gratuitous ass-shots.

Yes the first movie had a couple low-hanging fruits (Bumblebee watersports and 'Sam's Happy Time') but these were more the exception rather than the rule.
