Which of these designs do you personally prefer? Which do you think did it better? Maybe you prefer neither, just curious to read some thoughts on this.

    They're both pretty bad IMO.

Fair enough, though maybe it'd help if you specified what makes them bad to you.

    The second one.

Less kibble and bits/wires/etc. I prefer closed and armoured body parts.

Prefer the weapon of the first one though.

But can't say I'm a fan of the chest and torso of either.

Pretty much, the reason I prefer the second is for how smooth and coherent everything is. The BB design, while I still like it quite a bit, is more messy and not as streamlined as it probably could be.

Both are too lean and tall for me. Prime should look powerful of course but these are just too stylized, he loses that "friendly dad" angle and just seems like a generic mecha here.

Top design easily as the bottom seems too much like a toy come to life or a Gundam while the top actually seems like a complex (not so much alien) robot. However, I do wish that the upper legs were more segmented a little like the second design and the shoulders didn't have that side kibble as it doesn't add anything cool to his silhouette.

They don't properly look like pectoral muscles or the front of a truck so I feel like it kind of misses the point. I do like the smokestacks on the statue but otherwise it looks a bit too overly dynamic to be a G1 prime, the shins especially look like they belong in TFP.

I guess if anything the BB design should get points for being original, warts and all.

I guess I like the statue a little more. I like that it has less exposed wires. I like that there are a few more block shaped parts. I like the gun better. Where I really think it looks best is the torso, with the silver stripe going across the mid torso under the windows and I also like the more prominent grill abs. All that said, I still like the Bumblebee movie design version as well.

A hybrid - the film concept art version with taillights on the knees, but with grill abdomen, hip wheels, and rib bumpers of the Josh Nizzi version. There's barely any legitimate truck parts on the new OP. Maybe put replace the boxes by his knees with proper gas tanks too, and the lower arms of the Josh Nizzi version because they look more like truck parts and don't have random blue panels slapped on.

I like the chest of the statue but the overall look I have to give to BB Movie Prime, mostly in the face. It's way friendlier looking.

I don't care for either design, honestly, but the face on the second looks less surprised or worried. Not sure what they were going for in the movie. To me, Prime should look a little more Stern and stoic, especially in battle mode.

The thing that bothers me the most about both and, really, all of the movie and "newer" designs is all of the exposed wires and panel-style pieces. I get that it is supposed to look "gritty" or whatever, but I have to believe that a millions of years old, intelligently designed race of sentient robots would probably do a better job of covering up circuitry, hydraulics or what have you.

I don't know. Personal opinion, of course. I'm just a sucker for a "complete" look.
