Animated Decepticons hands down. They were leagues tougher than that universe's Autobots
No, remember that time when they punched optimus with that tree, and it took him like a whole 6 seconds to recover? What about when that one insecticon had arcee almost pinned down for 30 seconds until he stepped in the third rail? And who can forget when smokescreen arrived and it took a whole energon blast to kill a squad of vehicons and insecticons. What about when all those insecticons almost ganged up on soudwave with airachnid, and they got ALL THE WAY DOWN THE HALL BEFORE BEING SPACEBRIDGED!
So you, like, mised the whole part in BW where the future was not fixed? That it could be changed?
Remember when Megatron had Rampage blow up that mountain and the image on the disk changed? Or the GIGANTIC UNIVERSE-THREATENING TIME STORM?
The future was not fixed. Just because you were alive does not mean Megatron couldn't change it so you weren't.
But the Maximals stopped him so it's all good.
Beast Machines Vehicon army
I don't often speak for South town but there are diffrent theories of time travel. Besides the butter fly effect, another theory says time travel just creates an alternate universe with the changes. Scientists today say if time travel was invented, we would see people from the future here.
Animated Decepticons ... IF they were all gathered together as an army, but they never are - at least not during the run of the show.
The Beast Machines and Prime "endless force of faceless minions" are good at appearing threatening by sheer numbers, but both forces have the problem that (given good guy plot armor and kewl factor) a small group, or even one Autobot/Maximal can plow through a large number of troopers effortlessly, at least until a bad guy with a name shows up.
The Decepticon forces in the movies have an advantage (of sorts) here, being in a PG-13 franchise. They manage to kill the occasional human or Autobot without it having to be a major plot point.
I think the cumulative Decepticon body count by end of show was probably the scariest part
The word threat is open to interpretation here. If by threat you mean the possibility of the Decepticons beating the Autobots, there's none because the Autobots always win. If you're talking about the power gap between the Autobots and Decepticons, there's been many instances where the Autobots have fought cons stronger than they are.
Prime predacons. The autobots couldnt handle predaking. Imagine if shockwaves clones had all lived
Tie between the animated and 86 movie cons. In Animated you really got a vibe that the decepticons were built for war, and it showed, even when thy weren't taking on maintenance crews. The 86 movie cons were far different from those in the cartoon, before for after the movie, considering they caused the first deaths of the franchise, and did so in such a staggering number and so easily.
I suppose the Cons from WFC/FOC even though the nameless mooks drop like flies when you're playing as a named Autobot. Same applies if you're playing as a named Decepticon turning Autobot redshirts into scrap. Despite the casualties even when Zeta Prime was running things, the Cons have been shown to have the upper hand until Cybertron became unable to sustain itself.
