G2 color version or the retail bright color one...? the SDDC is too expensive so I am passing on that version.

I like the retail color version better and that's what I got....mostly because of the colors on Onslaught. Suspect I am going to be in the extreme minority on this but the G2 colors don't do it for me. The colors on the upcoming Takara version look amazing and accurate to the game, but you're looking at about $175.00 for that set.

    Let's see...

    G2:
    Most basis in fiction.
    Most unified color scheme
    Special packaging
    Cheapest
    Box set, so no hunting.

    Retail:
    Incredibly disparate color scheme
    More expensive
You'll either have to hunt them individually, or order online and pay even more.

I think the choice is obvious, personally.

The G2 set is by far the best bang for your buck, if that has any bearing on the decision.

G2 Bruticus! Not only does it look better than the retail 'gay pride' version, but it's cheaper too!

G2's your best bet unless you can afford the Takara version (in which case buy the hell outta that one) as it's cheaper than the retail, has a beautiful box, and overall doesn't look like a bowl of fruit

It really comes down to which color scheme you like better. I fyou want to get an idea of which one most people like, I am sure there is a poll somewhere on TFW, but my guess would be the G2 version :2c:  Personally, there are different aspects of each version that are appealing to me, but if I had to pick one, I would prefer the SDCC one.

Agree with this. Only $12 bucks a figure on average, I don't think you are going to beat that anywhere.

daddytron is right, the Takara Bruticus looks awesome! Unfortunately you have to pay through the nose for that awesomeness.

G2 for the reason's stated above: Cheaper and more unified look. Plus ice blue Vortex and white Blast off just look way better than the retail versions IMHO.

G2. It is cheaper. If I had sprung for the Retail version, i would be upset. They are only OK toys, not great.

I'm not a big fan of G2 colors, but the G2 Bruticus boxset has nice packaging, and is a good deal money-wise. I may get one of those, I like combiner boxsets.

to be fair, they're both a little "gay pride."

    It's more a case of saying "G2, normally I don't, but since it's you..." :p

If I didn't already have the SDCC version, I would go for the Takara version. I really like what they have done with the colors.

Ironically I'm sitting here with the 5 fruit loop colored Combaticons fresh from UPS trying to decide if I want to return them to TRU. I may get out my airbrush and redo them..... I just don't know about these colors

    G2 - it's technically game-accurate.
