Blitzwing has received several releases in the Classics/Generations/War For Cybertron (Legacy) lines. I'm trying to determine whether Power of The Primes/Titan's Return Blitzwing, or Legacy Blitzwing should be my main Blitzwing for my collection. I absolutely love anything that accurately looks like their (G1) Sunbow cartoon appearances. I also appreciate a good alt mode too, though, and I've heard some people mention they disliked Legacy Generations backpack and alt modes. Which Blitzwing is your favorite? (Feel free to discuss the Thrilling 30 Blitzwing, and any other Blitzwing you adore, here, too.) What do you guys think?
With all these types of posts the only thing I can say is go to the wiki, find the ones that look good and then watch reviews and figure out which one looks best to you. I like Animated fwiw. Definitely not G1 though.
I agree with @JazzAlert13 That said, i've owned every Blitzwing at one point and settled on Legacy. From my experience, TR and T30 both had shoulder issues and were a pain for me to keep standing. Legacy is sturdy and looks great imo.
Outside of Animated, which is it's own thing, Legacy Blitzwing is the only one I've been truly happy with. Sturdy and fully confident in what it's supposed to be, instead of rickety, experimental, and trying to do too much with too little.
Legacy and it’s not even close. Absolutely fantastic robot mode more than makes up for the forgettable jet mode.
Legacy for the win T30 is trash with horrid QC issues and must be retooled out of box. Titans return is an ok not a bad figure at all… blitzwing was never a headmaster so he’s strictly head cannon (pun intended) legacy captured the feel of the G1 bot… the transformation is clever and fun. Yes the Jet mode is lacking… not the worst vehicle mode we’ve gotten either.
Hasbro got me hyped when they announced the legacy blitzwing, but once I saw the "jet" mode, immediately started looking at what else was on the market. Got DX9 Blitzwing for slightly less than a commander-class, and was fully worth it. He is a proper triple changer and, in terms of size, DX9 Blitzwing and Siege Jetfire's jet mode are the exact same length.
To answer the question, though, I really like both TR and Legacy Blitzwing. I haven't played with Legacy Blitzwing as much yet since I moved and he's in a storage tote, and I do agree that there is a serious value falloff in the Leader class lately, but he's still very neat. TR has some aspects I prefer and feels much chonkier overall, plus I love Headmasters. As for T30 Blitzwing, I don't care very much for that mold (including the Doubledealer repaint). I have passed him up many times and my feelings haven't changed. But if I got one for very cheap I'd be glad to have him regardless.
I passed on Legacy...his bot and tank modes look decent, though. My only Blitzwing is the TR. I honestly do like him. The headmaster gimmick doesn't bug me...and I actually really like it. I'm at the point where I need to stop replacing figures that I am perfectly happy with just for some updated articulation. Even if I did get Legacy, he'd be stuck in a bin or a box somewhere anyway!
I have the older versions as Legacy fails to pull me in, I just don't suffer from newitis to want to really get him. The robot mode looks fine but the plane and tank mode completely pushes me away especially at the leader price. Even as nice the robot mode looks, I see a few things that I don't like about it either such as the transformations, some kibble and such that prevents mouvement, etc. Maybe at half the price I might go ahead but nothing impresses me all that much about it to worry about it. So I'll stick to TR's version as my default one as the plane and tank modes are solid and the robot isn't that bad at all. Until I see one version that pulls me in, including with 3rd parties (which needs to be at a reasonable price), I'm good.
I like legacy blitzwing for his robot mode but tr is better because 2 out of 3 modes is better than 1 out of 3, yes robot mode is akward in tr blitzwing but it does capture big berseker of the cons. The tank mode on tr looks a lot better the front is accurate to the g1 toy and the jet mode is definetly better than what we got on legacy.
As for the best it would be legacy and honestly both vehicle modes do not bother me. Another solid blitzwing would be animated given the simple design it pulls it off really well. The titans return blitwing was my go to until legacy there's something about that toy I just like.
