I was still at the "when two people fall in love" part of the conversation.

I was a sperm cell. My mom was in her car when she heard the news over the radio. Dunno about my dad.

Bit late but it doesn’t matter.

I was buying vodka at the liquor store and was handing my card to the cashier, who I was and still am friends with, when the TV made a weird sound. We looked at it and it had just switched from glossy talk show to live in NY. We just stood there and watched people die. After what seemed like forever we looked at each other, dazed and badly shaken, and we just opened the bottle and drank it. On the house. I ended up buying a different bottle for home and stumbled there. I brought the empty bottle that we’d shared and put it on a shelf. It’s moved around a few times but I still have it. I didn’t learn about the pentagon for a very long time.
    Underrated comment.

What's crazy is all the more recent comments in the thread are "wasn't born yet."

I was in high school. I was waiting for class to start when another teacher told my teacher to turn on the TV because a plane crashed into the building. I was expecting a small plane crashed into one of the building downtown of my state but once I saw the news and was not a small plane and it was the twin towers, i was shocked, confused, angry, scared.

For the rest of the day, classes were cancelled and you could just watch the news or call a parent to check out. I did the latter. My dad and I were talking about what happened. He has lived in the US since 1955 and he has seen lots of terrible things never seen anything like this but then remembered the Oklahoma City bombing of the Murrah Building.

The image is burned into my memory.

I've been finding out from the "Things I miss from the 90's" thread that quite a few other members around my age-range share my experience of learning about the attack from listening to the Howard Stern Show over the radio that morning. I actually re-listened to that entire broadcast a couple years ago thanks to an upload some kind soul posted on YouTube, still chilling listening to their real-time reactions on what they thoughtwpuld be a jokey morning. I would post it here, but when looking for it last night, it looks like that upload's been taken down. Closest result now is Conan O'Brien talking to Stern later that year about how big that broadcast was to the people of New York and the rest of the country that day.

I was working in the attic of a home that belonged to Tony Sbarro of Sbarro Pizza … at first we heard it was just a small plane that accidentally crashed into tower 1… shortly there after we had the unfortunate pleasure of watching the second plane hit tower 2 live on tv. My future father in law worked there and was fortunate to escape with his life. I still refer to it as the real Black Tuesday

Those who weren't born when this happened, I pray you never have to know. For having gone through that time, and the resulting actions and circumstances that have bled to today, it is something that will forever be embedded in me. I usually spend the day every year in remembrance of those lost on that day, and as a result of that day. Tomorrow, it will also be spent in sheer disgust and anger along with remembrance.

I know this wristband is 10 years old but my sister gave it to me and I’ve worn it every year since then as my way of paying respects to the people lost that day
