Where does deluxe Groove fit in? I know everybody is jumping head over heels to get the new deluxe Groove. But my question is where does he fit in. Does he replace the legend groove in the defensor or does he replace one of the limbs. The picture on the box says he goes as a limb of sky reign, which does not make sense to me.
He's going to be Defensor's right leg. The current micro Groove will be renamed Rook. Deluxe Rook will be sent elsewhere.
He is meant to replace Rook as a limb, so Defensor is more accurate to his G1 Design. You can still still Legends Groove to Defensor's chest, but then you'd have two Grooves on one combiner! But it doesn't really matter, the whole mix-and-match play pattern is one of my favorite things about Combiner Wars. You could really stick him anywhere. I'd imagine he'd look nice as part of Sky Reign or the white Optimus Maximus. It says he is part of Sky Reign on the box I think mainly because Sky Reign is the newest or current combiner.
My deluxe Groove is the right leg of Galvatronus. His loss to the rest of the Protectobots made such an impact he was replaced by two members: Groove II (maybe Groove's son LOL), and a Rook(ie). Other members of Galvatronus include other "lost" members Quickslinger (aka Slingshot) and Brake-Neck (aka Wildrider). Just need a space shuttle...
I got deluxe Groove for the hype, and another one to repaint. It didn't impress me enough to make it into a limb, so he's currently chilling in a storage bin with the rest of the Protectobots. Rook ended up as my favorite limb bot from the line and will never be replaced. I just wish it were still available at retail. I'd love to have an entire squad of them.
I will say for me Groove (Deluxe) is a Stand Alone Figure,he is not part of my CW Defensor at all.I have him displayed with my individual CHUG Collection,sometimes he's in robot mode,other times in alt mode.But as soon as ScrambleCore gets my other 2 Grooves I plan on making one for Limb Mode and the other in his robot or alt mode. Unlike Yaujta,it is a toss-up between Groove and Air Raid as my favorite figure of the CW Line,they are both excellent figures for different reasons.
On the end of Hot-Spot's leg. I am customising a Third Leg for Defensor. Just to impress the ladies. Once they go Rook there is no going back.
I don't usually identify as a GEEWUNNER (or more amusingly, a GEEWHINER), but Groove is a Protectobot and forms Defensor's right leg. Period. Rook is a damn good figure, but he's a backup team member at best (same with Offroad and Alpha Bravo). As for Legends Groove...meh. I'll name him Sparkride, after his Japanese counterpart. The main thing for me is that I've been waiting almost thirty years to finally get my hands on a Defensor, so I'm going to do it right.
^ Yeah I wouldn't call myself a Geewunner but I had to get Groove to make Defensor as G1 accurate as possible. So while he sits as the right leg, Rook meanwhile stands before them next to Alpha Bravo who has also been replaced by Slingshot on Superion.
Defensor's Right leg of course... Well, that's what the box of my UW Defensor shows...as well as the G1 toon. I was content on the new guys taking over for the old guys before I knew about the UW sets and that Hasbro would release the two missing guys. I bought Alphaperion and Off Roadasor, but took one look at Rook and said nope. Plus I wasn't very keen on the deco of the Hasbro Defensor molds after how close the Superion and Menasor were to G1 especially after Hasbro released the G1 guys, despite all the red on Wildrider. Streetwises incomplete looking deco and the super Black Defensor chest killed it for me...then I saw UW...and Groove...as a...Leg!! Problem solved. My dislike of Rook has nothing to do with my love of G1, I like and do not mind the inclusion of AB and OR.
I've got him as the left leg of Defensor, the Rooks are hanging out next to Defensor with Legends Groove as their own little auxiliary squad.
