This. I'm hoping for that as well, but I wouldn't mind it being Sentinel Prime. Except for it being kinda dumb that they first say Optimus is the last Prime, but now suddenly Sentinel is alive as well. Not to mention that it makes The Fallen look like an even bigger dumbass for not knowing that Sentinel Prime was still alive all this time.

Those are pretty obviously place holder names, especially when compared to a heritage character like Sentinel Prime. If it's true, that is a final name.

Wow the movie franchise sucks. They take a great mythos and absolutely demolish it horribly for the big screen.

How can they demolish a part of the mythos that has been inconsistent from series to series? And it's not like there's no precedence for this sort of thing either. G2 offered a cellular-division-like "budding" process that could easily support "Father" and "Mother" type relationships.

I'm sorry but your personal preference for how Transformer relationships should be handled does not make this interpretation any more or less correct than having the Transformers built by multi-faced squid people or a giant robot that turns into a planet. It's not a horrible demolition of a beloved mythology. It's one interpretation, of many consistently inconsistent interpretations, that you just happen to personally dislike.

 

Actually, it was the other way around. His name was Devastator in early drafts, they changed it to Brawl, but it wasn't changed in the subtitle. There have been differing reports as to why this happened, ranging from "mistake" to "Bay liked the name better."

But then Blackout was first called Soundwave, then Vortex, then I think Barricade, and finally Blackout.

 

But still, that means it's possible that they could still change Sentinel Prime's name, right?

I suppose anything is possible. Keep the following in mind though. As an Autobot, there is a good chance he will be interacting with the human cast. If he was only ever going to be refered to by name by the robots, then I would imagine name changes could come at anytime as they would just need to rework lip sync (or subtitles, if they are not speaking English). However, that is more difficult if the humans are saying "Sentinal Prime" left, right and sideways. Sure, they can fix it in ADR, but then the lips wont match the dialogue. So, if they are filming, and they have given him a specific name and not just a production stand in (Skipjack and Wheelbot are obvious examples of names thought up for stand ins), then I think it's pretty safe to say that it isn't going to chance.
