My son wanted transformers for Christmas and told me a week before. I found some for him however most are missing pieces and gives transformers are hard-to-find and pretty expensive. Does anyone know of any sites that sell transformers from the movie (the ones that are from the set and look like them) and inexpensive? Sorry, I don't really know all the lingo on here, I just want to be a good mom. LOL ! I really want to get him Wheely, scalpel, and a few more but I don't want to spend 20+ dollars on each one since I've already paid way too much for broken ones (smh). His birthday is coming up and I would like to have some for him at least then. Any information would be greatly appreciated

Your best bet is ebay. You can also try sites like Toydojo.com for new items.

Oh and older toys tend to be expensive unfortunately. Good luck with your search.

Yeah, I know eBay sells them but they're kind of expensive. I hate that he wants some of the older ones because people collect them now. Err. Thank you

Buy, Sell, Trade thread on this site. Can probably find some decent deals on movie figures on there since we are still in a down period before the next movie.

    Items For Sale or Trade

Don't know how much Wheelie and Scalpel go for these days (Wheelie came in two sizes, smaller one probably costs more, Scalpel only came in one size).

Yea, just checked what people are asking for Scalpel on ebay. None of those will sell. Looks like the only ones that actually sold were in the $10 range which is reasonable compared to the $50-$100 asking price for the ones on there that will never sell. That buy/sell/trade link that I posted should also have a wanted thread. Not sure how many people use it, but if you come up with a list, you can make a wanted post and see what people will offer them to you for. Sadly most of the stuff I need to list and get rid of are some of the core characters like Optimus, Sideswipe, etc that I have been too lazy to dig up and sell.

Check Rite-Aids or other drug stores for older figures. All of the Rite-Aids by me still have smaller figures from the second movie, including Scalpel.

Are you still looking for figures? I have a pretty good amount of my collection that I'm getting rid of.

I know this thread is some months old now, but beware of Scalpel as he is very easily broken. I had to exchange mine three times because his legs were broken right out of the packaging. In the end I just kept my fourth one MOSC rather than risk opening it for more bits of broken legs to fall out. I think it was how they were packaged with the legs pressed up against the front of the bubble which put stress on the thin parts and ball joint sockets.
If I remember correctly the small arms and tiny goggles with antennae parts can also be easily lost or broken too. I don't know how young your son is, but I'd consider Scalpel somewhat of a safety concern.

Very disappointing experience since it was a pretty neat figure design and I did finally get to carefully handle a friend's intact example. Which then unfortunately broke on him a few days later.

Here's some reviews citing the same broken legs and small bits dropping off issues:
