I will look forward to this. But they can hardly make it better than the original. IMO of course! I love mine so much!

Since KOs are typically within 50% of the official's price point, this is one of those KOs you can do without. You're better off with TE and MS.

If you lessen the backpack you then just have a dent in the back of the cab.

Baidu forums are saying that it will not come with trailer, roller and human figures. Shoulder and knee joints will be improved to reduce breakage. More diecast parts and will include jap and Eng voices. Looking at June release.

Most of that sounds promising. Happy to hear that I wont have to buy the trailer and that there are improvements, but I wish they would take out the electronics as well. Regardless, I'm looking forward to it.

Nope, add flaps to the bottom of the backpack, the put the matrix chamber behind it in truck mode. This would require some heavy reworking though.

They could if they fix the knees, reduce the pack back and give it paint that doesn't chip as soon as you look at it and they'd be onto a winner.
The back pack might be a forlorn hope, as that would need substantial re-engineering.

They would have to have diecast knees, not just the ratchet, or the diecast will eat away the plastic and you'll have floppy legs. Diecast isn't the answer, better engineering would work without changing tolerances. Voicebox is fine. it's tiny and adds less than 25 cents to the cost. If they took it away, it's still have the backpack because 1) It's integrated into the transformation and changing that changes the engineering more than it's worth... and 2) in most shots of Prime in the cartoon he has a sizable backpack.

It would be also nice if they could make the head antenna out of a stronger material so they're not warped out of the box.

    "Alloy electroplating"

I hope they don't chrome everything like on the over-oversize MP10 Atlas.

It's a worthwhile change. It allows for the side flanks to be filled in on the back; the backpack would be reduced by almost 50%.

Sweet, I generally hate the aesthetic of MP Prime3, but definitely want one just because he's Prime. Wish the backpack could have done away with, but it must be too integrated into the figure. Still, I'd gladly take it over the overpriced official version.

Edit: highly disagree that most G1 animation shots had Prime with such a huge backpack. I've seen maybe a dozen with that, but overall there wasn't a backpack that large.

Wait, you posted in this thread and then five minutes later created the dedicated thread? Couldn't you just have created the dedicated thread and left this one alone?

Mods, can we get one of these threads closed now? Preferably this one so the new thread is dedicated to this specific KO and because this one was a question/speculation thread, not an actual product announcement thread.

Cutting that chonkpack down to 50% is easy, but it gives way for cleaner flanks. They could alter the torso hinges to put the matrix chamber in the voicebox's original spot, which would be covered by new flaps adds to the backpack.

Maybe, but other than superficial cosmetic changes, I just don't see any company going that length with changes. Love one to prove me wrong though.

Just been told the same from a very good source. More specifically the knees are diecast in this, possibly shoulders and there is planned chrome.

Might be able to get a really good deal too so will update in due course.
