Went with Defensor. He has less of the "Crotch just under the chin" syndrome.
Overall I'd go with Bruticus, but in terms of individual components I'd go with Abominus.
i thought scramble meant interchangable arms/legs, these all are fixed as an arm or a leg no?
True- there are tons of possible combinations...
anyone care to do the math?
29x limb x 4 (or 5) positions each
But, it's only really useful to talk about these guys as original sets, IMO. Aesthetically and proportionately, they go best as originally intended.
i've gone for Defensor - possibly for sentimental reasons (First Aid was my first ever TF) but in honesty, i love them all for different reasons...
i do love me some computron.
Computron, hands down.
Yeah I have to go with Bruiticus, he's always been my fave combiner.
Defensor. A rescue team that covers land and air, with a built in head.
I always thought that Computron was the best looking but next from him would be Superion.
Computron all the way! I'm actually surprised at how well he's doing in this poll, I always had the impression he wasn't very popular as he was a season 3 character.
Definately my favorite scramble city gestalt.
Wow...Computron coming on strong.
Are there any fan favorite gestalt mixes?
LOL... just got my Wildrider off of eBay yesterday afternoon and they sent me a fugure that looked NOTHING like the one in the picture, completely devoid of stickers and very tan (sun exposure?)...
Grr...the seller is being cooperative and said that they accidentally sent the wrong one... so my Menasor will have to deal with having First Aid as an arm for a little while longer!!
Looking at them next to each other, it's kinda crazy how much better Bruticus looks than Piranacon, Bruticus being the first one we got and Piranacon being the last and all.
Newer =\= better. If you look at some of the later TFs, they are absolutely horrendous compared to the earlier toys. The Autorollers come to mind.
Umm...did the Autorollers improve that much?
But yeah, I agree that figures do tend to improve over the course of a line... which is my biggest complaint about Optimus Prime always being in the first wave of a line... inevitably, the later toys designed are more sophistocated. Look at Armada Prime versus Armada Unicron.
So, I suppose it's no wonder that Computron is a well constructed figure.
I spent some time with my Ruination/Bruticus repaint last night- it's the version that was released in the RiD era (11-12 years ago??) with the camoflauged colored Onslaught. I have to say that it's not as nice as Menasor...much more angular and jumbled looking. I REALLY like the limbs, especially Vortex and Brawl but the gestalt is unstable and messy.
Cool figure, just not my favorite.
I love Bruticus, but Defensor and Computron have some great proportions. Superion and Abominus are too lanky and Menasor is too chunky. Piranacon is just weird.
Bruticus Bruticus Bruticus Bruticus Bruticus. Mmmmm me likey Combaticons
You DO realize I was mentioning the fact that just because the Seacons came later doesn't mean they are better. The Autorollers were an example of a later set of figs that don't hold a candle to earlier ones. I can come up with tons more examples if you'd like. Most of them being the original Hasbro designs.
Bruticus is awesome, but I'm getting bored of him. I have Pirancon and think he's awesome too, but... I think my vote goes to Computron. I've always thought he was awesome since a kid, and Scattershot was one of my first Transformers when a was a little dude (though I've never got any of the rest of the Technobots) so my opinion may be biased because of that.
