I was sat here having my breakfast looking down at the Flame Toys IDW Megatron I am currently painting up/assembling and thought... I wonder how many Megatrons or Optimus Primes for that matter I've purchased over the years. Certainly more than any other characters I'd wager, that would make a fairly good indicator a to how idiotically addicted I am to the franchise wouldn't it? So, having 1 hour to kill before I head to work I totted it up.

Add 29 Seekers to that and it’s a Decepticon fest over here.

That's a lot closer than I was expecting, mostly due to some Black redecos of Optimus still counting as Optimus'.

 

I have more Primes than Megatrons, thats for damn sure. Yesterday I did get SS voyager first movie Megatron, so that tally went up by one at least.

I try not to have duplicate characters on my shelves usually, but sometimes it happens.

I have 2 each:
Optimus Prime-Rescue Bots. He is cute without being chibi-deformed, I liked the little details. I liked his sturdiness. He wouldn't take up a lot of shelf space. He was cheap too. He's one of my favorite figs and he was my first Autobot.

Optimus Prime-35th Anniversary Cel-shaded. I initially wanted a Bumblebee Prime, as I wanted a bigger, grander, more articulated toy for photoshoots and comics. Although I'm not sure if Hasbro ever made one. Kinda agitates me that one of their best la movies gets so little in the way of toys. Then I saw this guy and he was so strange and glorious. He is super photogenic and looks like he popped right outta the tv screen. I love him.

Megatron-Titan Warriors. He's not one of my favorite characters. I decided to have one for representation, which is something I almost never do and he fit the bill by being cheap and sturdy. I mean, why should I pay a ton of money for a char I'm not crazy about no matter how often they reboot him? He looks like his original G1 form, he didn't have that awful battle damage, which is what turned me away from Seige and he's a pretty decent size. He's not my favorite, but he's perfectly serviceable.

Megatron-Wind-up McDonald's. I entered a photo contest and won a mystery prize. He was among the other items. He is funny and cute. He's little and won't take up much shelf space. I kept him.

Thanks! I don't have many anymore either, I think I'm on 4 OPs and 4 Megatrons with another Megs in the post. I listed all I've ever owned just becuase I'd never really thought about it.

That's exactly how I did it, I wouldn't have been able to remember off the top of my head as I've sold app many of them over the years.

 

On G1 continuity alone without 3P or KOs, I've got 48 Optimus Primes. I'm going to have to get back to this thread later with total counts and descriptions. It's going to take me a while...

 

I just have a couple of each. Let me sit back and count - 10 Megatrons, 15 Primes - how in the world did this happen?!?!? Well, three were childhood purchases. The rest - well, I guess the current Primes and Megatrons weren't that great when I got back in, and I kept going for best available. I think I may be slowing down, but I do have my eye on Earthrise and Magic Square Primes. Must resist. Maybe.

On another note, it seems a lot easier to find a good Prime than a good Megatron. It was pretty barren in the Classics era, but things seem to be improving.

Yeah, I tallied up my Primes and the diagnosis is that I'm one bot away from the nuthouse straightjacket.

So that makes this question really important to me;
Does Orion Pax count as a Prime?

I would say yes, so that makes you certifiable  

I've counted Savage/Noble as a Megatron so you gotta count Pax as an Optimus... Question bothering me is does Car Robots Black Convoy count? And is Robotmasters Reverse Convoy both?
