My laptop won't work. When I turn it on it starts beeping and does nothing else. Any ideas of what could be wrong with it? Is it an issue with the battery?
Ghosts. Evil ghosts. But seriously it could be a number of things. Does it work if you plug it in? Does someone else have a laptop that runs off the same battery type that you could swap and try? Does the "power" light flash when you try to turn it on? Can you tell if the hard drive is corrupted? Are the vents clogged, preventing airflow and cooling?
Some laptops (Dell's mainly) actually use the beeps and pauses to convey the issues. Usually, if when you press the power button and get that sort of error, you're looking at hardware failure since its not even getting to the POST.
Too much porn on your laptop dude. But yeah, listen to these guys. Did some digging around and 7 beeps does really indicate a Processor failure. How old is your system?
