It's been a fun ride with the FansToys dinobots line. Is it safe to buy from eBay from China sellers? Why did prices shoot up so much? I haven't been following Transformers for a long time but wow! What happened?

Don't Fanstoys prices almost always shoot up once they are sold out?

A fair price for them is $160 each but you're never gonna find them for that low unless someone is being very generous.

There is also the Gigapower set. Not sure if they have better prices available right now, but that is another option.

I have both FT and GP sets and decided to keep FT in dino mode because of how impressive GP were in bot mode.

I would be surprised to see an FT dino for under $300 and I haven't looked into it. Brand new figures like this would be over $200 by now.

Not many people willing to sell these older items and they can always wait for someone with cash who DGAF to pay up.

These toys aren’t static PVC anime figures with Windows you can look in to visually see if the figure looks okay.

Please please open your transformers. Especially third party products. You could have missing pieces, broken parts and other issues.

By the time you sell your “investment,” (*if*) and the buyer decides to open the box themselves and sees there is issues; you are shit outta luck.

Of course that is if you didn’t already open them and return them to the box : )

A good price for FT Dibots is roughly 15-20% below whatever the eBay Sold listings from legit sellers in your region are going for.
In the US, where prices from US sellers are often among the highest due to the trust factor vs China-based sellers, the price can be crazy high for Stomp, very high for Cesium, Soar, and maybe Grinder, and not much above MSRP for Sever. Not sure about Scoria, haven't looked. I recently sold off all of mine except Grinder.

    It's because they're Fanstoys.

As apathetic as I am about Fanstoys (I have a bunch of Fanstoys stuff and their Cyclonus is the ONLY figure of theirs that I absolutely LOVE)- they are THE major MP brand besides Hastak. This is also why I own so many FT even though I'm not that crazy about them. It's impossible to have a remotely complete MP (especially season 3) collection without owning FT toys.

As said, those are regular G1 figures. MP dinobots are huge. GP even bigger than FT.
WST would actually fit in Grimlock's mouth LOL.

So prepare your shelves if you want to dive in this expensive dino journey!

Opinions and opinions...and that’s fine. On the other hand Fanstoys Sever has better joints and ratchets than Gigapower Cutter. So, both sets has good points and not so good points. And i understand, that you wrote about Sludge character and not some other, but anyways this was just ”some kind of overall opinion about Fanstoys and Gigapower sets”.

    Ebay:
Been leaning in the direction of selling my 5 . As a set only . I have cesium though & not the normal slag . I’ll have to check eBay an see what insane prices people are asking . The only problem I’d see it the shipping ! Dam things weigh a ton.
