Dinobot/Tigatron 2-pack. Rhinox/Blackarachnia 2-pack. Wolfgang/Buzzsaw 2-pack. BigBadToyStore has had them for awhile and every once in awhile I see them pop up on Ebay, but I've been meaning to ask about them. Were they a store exclusive? Wide release? The prices I've seen these 2-packs go for is always very high. I had no idea Hasbro/Kenner had ever released BWs in 2-packs like this. I don't really remember anythign like that until Energon.
Costco exclusives, I believe. Very much sought after by the "packaging variations" portion of our fandom.
It's...a freakin' bogo pack. I figured they were store exclusives at some point, but why are those so much when aaaall the other ones, TF and otherwise, aren't? There's the Sam's SW 2- and 3-packs, the 3-packs going back as far, if not further, than those BW packs; the KB SW 4-packs; TF:Armada, Energon and now Cybertron 2-packs; WM GIJoe Spytroops and KB VvV 2-packs. I know there are packaging variation hunters out there and all, but all of these, the BW as well, are just random regular toys still in the original packaging but linked by some cheapie cardboard thing...some didn't even get that, just a plastic clamshell and a sticker. It's the random part that I don't get. Is there actually someone out there trying to get all of the Cybertron bogo packs? 'Cause I came across a stash of about 2 dozen or so and I don't know that there was more than one or two dupes in the lot. Craziness.
It could have something to do with the fact that those particular toys are sper hard to find MOSC at all.
Like Ams said they're exclusive two packs to one of those memberships stores (either Costco or BJ's). I don't believe there is any physical difference when it comes to the toys or the packaging ... just that there in a two-pack holder.
I think I recall seeing them at Sam's Club as well, but I'm not too sure. It was a long time, after all, so my memory could be a bit fuzzy.
