So today, I was thinking about my Primus with unicron head and 25th anniversary Unicron. I live in the UK so I paid a fair chunk for these toys, probably about £180 each which I guess translates roughly as $350. Some of that was import tax, some of that was postage, some of that was just because they're expensive big toys.
Thing is, I honestly can't say I like the guys very much. Sure there are elements of fun about them, but overall, to be brutally honest, IMHO they suck in quite a few ways and they are very toy-like with all there bits of bendy rubber.
Then there are others, like masterpiece Battle opps bumblebee who I paid £100 for and frankly love. His detail is amazing, he has tons of cool sounds which actually try and simulate how bumblebee sounds in the film and he's great in both modes. Leader brawl was also like this, £150 but he's probably my favourite leader from the movies, although not got jetwing prime yet :)

Then finally there's overlord. Wow I paid a lot for that guy, £400. He came complete, only 2 of his stickers dammaged and with a mad Italian box. I like him don't get me wrong, but for £400? no way. Scorpy I'd have paid £400 for and would have loved him for that. AS it happens I paid £150 for him which is weird since that's what I paid for leader brawl.

I guess for me, i go by the feel as I have no sight, but it got me thinking. What are peoples most disappointing transformer purchases? you know those really big ones you shell out for, you get them and something stops you from playing and enjoying them for quite as much as you paid for them? I guess at the end of the day we have to remember they are only toys, the possible exception being the MP series, but even those hold their roots in toys.
Interested for peoples thoughts on this.

for me? that's an easy one.

Supreme ROTF Devastator was by far the worst expensive purchase I ever made.

$100.00 was way too much for that guy.

my second large regretted purchase was: Fansproject City Commander. Gooooooooood I absolutely hate that thing. So loose and floppy and heck all it is is armor pieces that you piece together to make a Trailer. lol. but, what do you expect from a non-official product.

I also regret buying and owning almost all the movie stuff i have. so much of it is just absolutely terrible.

Last but not least Takara Transformers Movie Deluxe Black Arcee (2007 movie arcee repaint) I spent $95.00 on that thing.

Ah yes ROTF devastator I almost... almost got, but reviews drove me back :)  some of the movie stuff is ok, i like sentinel prime, leader starscream's alright, leader ironhide if you get one that can hold his arms up and despite what I thought, I really do like movie masterpiece bumblebee.

I think my most disappointing expensive purchase was Mastermind Creations' Cyclops. It was so close to being awesome too. I spent probably an hour slowly transforming him while watching youtube videos to make sure I didn't break anything. Then when I finished I noticed that his right arm was totally floppy. So I check the boards and find out that's a common problem and I'll need to contact the manufacturer to get a replacement elbow or something. Instead I contacted them with a big FU and sold it. Later on I found out it also needed hip replacement surgery. For the money I spent I wanted a mint condition robot, not an unfinished project that could take weeks before it's finished.

Ah dear, that doesn't bode well for Hexatron does it :)  although to be fair I've heard nothing but good things about Hexy.

I have to agree with ROTF Supreme " look at me I am megazord" Devastator.

I got mine for $40 on clearance and i still feel ripped off. I gave him to my nephew when i dropped the live action movie figures from my collection.

Weaponizer BB it was on sale too but it was just that bad of a figure. Returned it. Valued at 34$ minus 40% off.

TFTM voyager Ironhide. I gave it to my nephew after a week.

I hate to sound like a broken record but MP-12. I'm so disappointed because it's so close to perfection but the paint job is terrible. Now I'm wasting about $60 on postage once I've returned it.

I'm still going to take a chance on Hexatron. And if the second run Cyclops is fixed I might give him another try too.

For me it might be the Henkei/Gentei Skywarp and Thundercracker. Missile launchers.

I forgot about those! They might have disappointed me even more than Cyclops. I was so close to having all three Henkei Seekers and then boom! Defective!

Perfect effect Frenzy and Rumble tanks things. Loose legs and a pain to click all the bits in when trying to change them to tank. Spent $70 and have put me off buying third party TFs forever.

20th Prime. Chipped paint right out of the box, can't hold his weapons right, lousy truck mode, and the metal makes it hard for him to hold a pose. One of the only Primes I regret buying.

I do hate that, when you get a deffective one right out of the box. I seem to be very good at getting them, or maybe I just pick up on a lot of small imperfections.
