I'm interested in adding a movie Optimus Prime figure to my collection but there seems to be so many variation of them.

What is the overall best Movie Prime figure in term of details and size? (I like big figure)

 

Ko OS evasion Optimus prime by weijiang (I think). Nothing really close. If not the rotf leader prime is solid as well.

 

Yeah. The best Movie Prime is definitely the Over Sized KO of Evasion Optimus Prime from Weijiang. The best HasTak have done would be one of the RotF Leader moulds.

 

Yep I'd support that Wei Jiang M-01 Commander is the most glorious manifestation of movie Prime ever.







Officially, I'd say the Takara Buster Optimus Prime was my other favourite as that has the movie accurate alt mode.

I'm going to get shot for this, but I own the WeiJiang M-01 and I still prefer my beloved APS01-U. He has the funner transformation, IMO. Yes, you read that correctly. I still don't get how people think he's "overly-complex."

 

I like plain old Voyager AOE Evasion Mode Optimus Prime. The Weijiang KO has some very inelegant parts to the transformation that always reminds me it is a put-together KO, I can't shake the feeling that they took something very beautifully designed like a Mona Lisa and added a disgusting moustache. IMHO it looks amazing but feels embarrassing to transform.

 

I agree, Weijiang is a really amazing Optimus Prime.

And talking about not transforming Optimus, I really like Comicave Optimus Prime.

 

Weijang aesthetically and if you're ok w/ a KO with some original edits. ROTF leader or evasion optimus itself otherwise - both have multiple releases with different paint jobs.

 

I cannot stand movie Prime but, the Wei Jiang version is awesome.

 

DMK03 Optimus Prime; non-transforming but definitely the most detailed and accurate

 

I prefer AoE Voyager Evasion Mode Prime with the plated face. I like the classic truck mode and the simplier transformation vs the ROTF Leader mold. Also, movie wise, I like keeping my movie figures voyager class or less.

 

WeiJiang all the way. It feels amazing in hand and the improvements they made from the official voyager is top notch.

For Hastak, APS-01U. It took to the Leader prime mold that had been through a ton of improvements and refined it with posable hands, tinted windows (which improve the overall look a ton) and copper-colored paint on details that were previously ignored. APS-01U is the most accurate official prime to the movie. But that said it's pinstriping is in blue, not silver. This reflects the pinstriping of the the bot mode in the movie (which was silver in vehicle mode). Yes they were different.


The older Buster Prime was "it" for a long time, until APS-01 (and APS-01U later) showed up, as well as Striker Prime. Buster Prime's paintjob is dazzling and it has a highly detailed pinstripe vehicle-accurate paint job. But that said it is more like a "pristine, showroom floor" movie Optimus Prime. It's impressive looking but its colors are very off compared to screen accuracy and APS-01U. It also lacks the extras included in releases since Buster Prime (such as the striker shield/front end, the additional weapons, the jet pack, and the Dotm abdomen).




The silver Pinstriping is pretty gorgeous, and it's a shame that APS-01U didn't include it, but strictly speaking, the overall paint job of APS-01U (with the different silver/gunmetal grey and copper) is closer to what "Trilogy Optimus" looks like in bot mode. An "ideal" display would have APS-01U's bot mode next to Buster Prime's vehicle mode essentially.

There is also a new 10th Anniversary leader prime coming out in a couple of months.



It's going for $100 which is probably the cheapest you'll get something this quality. It includes the 2x Hooks, 2 x swords, the spiked fist addon and the buster gun. It does not include the jetpack, the striker shield and the striker gun. If you're going to augment this mold with 3P addons (such as the screen accurate jetpack), this is probably the best, most economical buy. Paintjob wise, it seems to be just APS-01U, complete with the new poseable hands.

if I were you and want a Hastak option, personally I'd go for this one. It won't be hard to find (you can pre-order now). The APS-01U markup at this point isn't worth the shitty jetpack, the striker shield and the gun.

 

Any version of the Rotf leader class figure.

 

Also bonus round, remember the original leader Prime had some features dropped thanks to the recession that hopefully we'll see in the future!



Collapsable wheels (why hasn't a 3rd party done this?), a collapsable gear box on each leg, and different poseable hands that retract into the forearm (APS-01U / 10th anniversary primes hands are different and do not retract).

 

As far as official releases go, pretty much any version of the ROTF leader class mold is great. He's pretty movie-accurate and very complex.

I'm guessing you'd want something at least leader sized, but for voyagers the "Battle Blades Optimus Prime" mold first released in 2010 is pretty good (he's basically a simplified version of the ROTF leader mold), albeit he's rather kibbly and a bit too top heavy. He even comes with his swords, two handheld guns, and the Matrix of Leadership which stores in his chest. Also, while the AOE Evasion Mode Optimus Prime mold uses a lot of "transformation cheats", it helps him look extremely accurate in robot mode. If you like Optimus' new look from AOE and The Last Knight, the new voyager looks promising and personally I'd wait to see if a better leader mold comes out this year before buying the AOE leader or First Edition.

I don't have him, but the oversized KO M01 Commander made by Wei Jiang seems to be the definitive movie Prime figure for many. He's basically AOE Evasion Prime with most of his drawbacks fixed.

 

I.....don't understand. The core transformation is the same with a few extra steps.

 

There's no comparing the Weijang Black Apple M01 Commander to any other movie figure. It's one of the best figures around. A true Masterpiece

 

APS-01U is the best, even the Weijiang Evasion OS doesn't compare to it. Thats just me though, as I love the Leader mold and think the paint work on APS-01U is absolutely beautiful, And this isn't meant to diss Weijiang's figure, it great too. I just prefer the leader mold.

 

I am going to put aside my Bayverse bigotry and say that that Wei Jiang is one damn impressive toy.

How does that robot turn into that alt mode? It's sorcery I say.
