HasLab is a special projects/custom shop. You don't need them to do repaints or put out $50 figures.
Hasbro Pulse on the other hand can have the exclusive repaints or limited run releases.

I’m gonna second the desire for smaller-scale HasLab projects. If Hasbro only uses HasLab to make mega expensive gigantic things, that’s a serious limit that they’d be imposing on themselves, especially for future Transformers projects. I get that mega expensive gigantic things are the expectation for crowd-sourced projects, but if every project were expected to be on the scale of Unicron, there really wouldn’t be much else they could do for Transformers with HasLab, let alone something with as much appeal as Unicron. The community struggles to think even of what other Titans they could still put out other than the obvious Scorponok.

Having said that, I’d love to see some new mold G1 toys, like a Headmaster Arcee or just an Arcee in general. If the Dinobot molds are really lost, I’d be happy to help crowdfund new tooling for a reissue Dinobot set. Shoot, they could use HasLab to finally make G1 Unicron. He’d make a great companion piece to Siege Unicron.

This would be a great way to finally see if remaking lost G1 molds is feasible. They could start with the ever popular Dinobots as a set, with a possible option for extras singularly after committing to a full set. If those are successful they would move on to the missing cars (Mirage, Sunstreaker, Wheeljack) and the Omnibots. Then they could get creative with it and re-do the Ironhide/Ratchet design to look like an actual robot (doesn't need to be extremely toon accurate) while keeping most of the original design intact and faithful to the original toy.

I don’t really care what they do (I loved M.A.S.K but I don’t think I’d start collecting it). I would like to see something that it’s structured more like a best in class crowdfunding campaign. Make it more attainable in price, set the goal a little lower, but build in stretch goals and bonuses that the campaign can “earn” with certain numbers of backers. That would make it much more rewarding for the community as a whole. If it were $150-250 then most people could buy in and there would be more enthusiasm.

For those saying “you have Selects” or “that could be retail”, you’re missing the point. A crowdfunding campaign is marketing as much as a transaction. It would be much better for the brand to do something attainable and allow the fans to “earn” rewards.

I personally think they’d be crazy to do a $600 Flagg. Better to make it $300 and build more interest in that brand.

edit: but they should definitely do the Ghostbusters firehouse.

The next Transformers related Haslab project should be paying Alex Milne to redraw every single comic that idw let Livio Ramondelli ruin.

They should quit while they’re ahead and go out on top.

I think the Flagg would be awesome — with a twist. Make it a sturdy piece of IKEA style furniture SHAPED AND TAMPOGRAPHED like the flag with a water resistant coat as a functional table with the plastic turrets and tower added on using new designs inspired by the original. And storage drawers on the sides and maybe an optional keyboard tray and mount for a desktop.

Fully functional work desk. Waterproof. Works as a desk. Also works as a Flagg display. Doesn’t need table space or shelf space because IT IS ITS OWN TABLE.

    :-D

Monstructor AND Dinoking 2 pack (12pack) All deluxes, all have their shells. I'll settle for one set of inner bots but all 12 shells have to happen. Would be difficult to do at retail and titan price point would be too limiting.

Big Transformers? Primus and Ark playsets are my bet. Tidal Wave that can split up parts to become numerous armor would be awesome, too.

Smaller ones? Maybe actionmasters. Non-transforming. Maybe some missing combiner bits like Leozack and Jallguar? I dunno.

    Non-transformers? I dunno....
Which Thirteen? There's different members in different versions.... Either way, I'd buy it.

Who said that? I seem to recall that HasLab was simply meant as a crowdfunding platform; other platforms, like Kickstarter, can host projects as small as enamel pin sets or as big as Shovel Knight or the Veronica Mars movie, so why can't HasLab be the same way? It can.

Sure "It can" but it would be a waste of resources IMO. Repaints/redecos can be left to the Selects line which was what I was referring to.
If you're going to put out an exclusive "One of" mold never to be seen again, even if it's a deluxe sized figure then yes, use HasLab. But again I would see it as wasted resources. They are the special projects team, I would rather see them put out something amazing a la Sail Barge, a la Unicron, then put out.... repaints??

Heck, me personally I would use HasLab exclusively as a way to put out US/North America only Masterpiece figures. Have them open a poll of 5 characters to choose from and the top 2 vote getters get the crowdfund treatment and you'll get two exclusives in return.

I was just thinking about this as well. Assuming the Haslab projects need to stay in the hundreds range, they need to do something with broad enough appeal. I think this fits that bill just fine.

I would love something like a Studio Series Driller, but I'm just not sure that would garner enough support.

They’re not doing the Flagg. The franchise is on fumes even with the Snake Eyes movie.

They are going to do a brand that actually still has steam in it. GI Joe and MASK are out. They don't produce enough or anything at all for those brands. I seriously wish they put as much effort into GI Joe as they do Transformers, like a seige line for the original 80's Joe's.

It will either be Marvel or MLP next
