Just out of curiosity, what are everyone's opinions on what might come out of Haslab next? I didn't see a thread started yet and I thought it would be interesting for everyone to share their best guesses. If a similar thread was started, I apologize in advance that I missed it. First was the Sail Barge for Star Wars and soon Unicron for Transformers (and maybe Cookie Monster for Sesame Street?). We know whatever Hasbro decides to create has the fans in mind and will not be a mass retail outing. It would also probably be big and expensive, something that normally could not be offered, so just for fun, I thought we could speculate. Any and all Hasbro properties are open to suggestion, even the obscure ones. My first few choices would be: - Marvel Legends 6" scale fully articulated Sentinel, Galactus, or Fin Fang Foom. Or even an X-Mansion playset. - M.A.S.K. Boulder Hill Playset (including a few 3 3/4" figures and a vehicle or two). It'd be a great way for them to test the waters on the desire for a M.A.S.K. comeback. - Cobra Terror Drome playset (even if it was just the front half to be accurately in scale with 3 3/4" figures. Even better if it was sold in halves, but purchasing 2 would allow for a compete Terror Drome, and discount of course.) Or maybe, since this is essentially a kick-starter, why not: - GI Joe and Cobra (at least 6 figures each) done in 6" scale ala Black Series with a ton of accessories. - M.A.S.K., Visionaries, or Inhumanoids also done in 6" scale. Just a couple of wild, off-the-wall guesses, but who knows? Have fun.
Unicron needs a repaint doesn't he? Maybe next up is the deathstar Seriously though. I think they should do the Flagg.
I like the idea of the Ark playset, but I think I would really appreciate an Ark and Nemesis bridge set. They'd make awesome display pieces for shelf units like Detolf or Billy.
Probably something Marvel legends related. -> 90s-style X-Mansion with X-men base / danger room (probably not but one can dream) -> MCU-style Avengers tower or New Avengers base. -> MCU-style Helicarrier (like the 3.75 inch SDCC exclusive, but grander and scaled for 6 inch) It'd be a 2022 product at this rate, which would be just in time for Avengers' 10th anniversary. So I'm gonna go with a Helicarrier.
I wish Haslab's next TF project is to crowdfund Transformers The Movie 2, using as many of the 1986 movie creators and cast as possible, with the backers getting a limited edition DVD, credits mention and the right to fan-vote critical plot points and cast choices. While the non-backers can just simply buy a retail DVD or digital copy. I really appreciate Hasbro's direction of late to make all parts of the hobby accessible to all, be it Hascon Arcee being sold online, SDCC exclusiveness only being a early release, Selects via pulse, greatly improving global availability or more importantly minimal fan exploitation by charging close-to retail prices on exclusives. But Haslab Unicron feels a bit like a step backwards to the old elitist environment where it feels like to be a true fan you need to pay a lot for that badge of exclusivity. A fandom this big and diverse needs an inclusive culture. So my wish is a fan-curated sequel to 1986 TFTM that answers what next after season 3 and before BW.
if they are having trouble raising 40K or 50K for the unicron preorders, I don't think they can raise several million dollars. But I would f'n love a G1 TF the movie sequel. I mean the US Headmasters saga did end on a cliffhanger somewhat (Galvatron and Zarak traveling through space planning to return to cybertron to attack it at some point)
TF related? The Ark but that won't come around till maybe 5 years down the line, they would have to get to other lines first. I think the next thing is GI Joe related and the Flagg would be it.
Unicron preorder with 8,000 required backers equals $4,600,000. Not $40,000 or $50,000. Hasbro is literally trying to raise several million dollars for Unicron.
I want Haslab to do some smaller stuff. It doesn’t need to be limited to gigantic figures. An idea I’ve seen is to do Generations-scaled Quintessons at Haslab. Something like that could easily be done at like a $50 buy in, and fits in with the Haslab theme of collector-focused products that retailers wouldn’t buy. I’ve also been thinking recently that Haslab would be the perfect place to put out Titan class repaints. In that case, the molds are already made, the packaging is already engineered, so I could see them being able to crowdfund, say, Metrotitan or Omega Sentinel, with a comparatively low required backer number, and at a price close to MSRP. With the end of TRU, Titans have become an online-only price point, and the chance of retailers being interested in obscure repaints of these high-priced items is slim. Haslab would be a great outlet for them.
