I was just at my local Target and they had 3 Optimus Prime’s from Power Of The Primes sitting out alongside Transformers One merch. Must be trying to clear out old stock?   I’ve seen older toys show up on shelves before but never ones that were six years old.

 

Oh yeah, it's actually a "silent reissue" or something like that. What better way to promote a new movie where Orion Pax becomes Optimus Prime than with a toy that does exactly that?

 

This is only the millionth time this has been posted.

 

Somewhere it was reported that this was leftover stock that had been sitting in a warehouse. On the one hand, that seems like a stretch given how widespread these have been since something like a complete production run would have been hitting inventory metrics for 6 years.

However, it also seems unlikely that they would use the old and (presumably) more expensive packaging style for a new run.

 

Well they also have a reissue of Studio Series Camaro Concept Bumblebee, too along with POTP Optimus Prime.

 

BMac confirmed it was a brand new run, the "warehouse find" rumor ended up being bunk.

Yep, exactly this ^^^ . They also reissued the SG Prime & Ratchet 2-pack, Earthrise Prime and MPM-12 Prime off the top of my head, all to celebrate the 40th Anniversary or whatever. It's not some big secret or conspiracy

100% this. I actually stopped collecting Transformers a couple of years ago so I don’t follow the news very closely. I was just shocked to see a 6-year old toy sitting on the shelves, but there’s always gonna be some asshole flapping their gums.

It's a silent release. I'm assuming due to Transformers One. You should pick it up, if you don't have it.

 

I agree that this one is worth a pick up. It’s literally one of the only figures that I kept from PotP. IMO, the Toyhax set is superb on this one too.

This actually makes some sense, especially since they specifically did a new run of TR Fortress Maximus recently too.

I guess they have a file for a complete product (packaging and all) in the catalog ready to go. All they need to do is meet some minimum order quantity and press the 前往 button!

I would have much prefered a reissue of Primal, as that's one I missed due to my old TRUKK NOT MUNKY ways I left behind during Kingdon.
