There's pointing out a post, and then there's being a condescending prick about it. I have hefty issues with Code of Hero, and I'm vocal about them. I also don't park BW on a higher pedestal than any other series. So he's not alone in his opinions, and he shouldn't be treated like shit because of them.

Appreciated. There are too many people here these days ready to jump on those with differing opinions. I used to get angry but I'm trying to reign it in these days. This hobby is supposed to be fun.

I get that the other chap probably didn't mean any harm. I'm in the minority in this fandom with a lot of my opinions.

I base my collection on vehicle scale. I love the Prime Wars cartoon trilogy. I don't like a lot of popular characters such as G1 Bumblebee, Prime Bulkhead, Kup, Wheeljack, Jetfire, Rattrap, Dinobot, Movie Ironhide, Alpha Trion and Optimus Prime.

None of us are going to agree on everything but let's try and be respectful and focus on what we have in common rather than our differences. Till all are one!!

I'd say whatever the current series on at the time would be for when someone first got into Transformers. So Beast Wars in the 90s, Unicron Trilogy/Animated in the 2000s, and Prime/RID in the early 2010s

I'd go with Beast Wars for the simple fact that it's one of the earliest fully CG animated series.

The BIG 3 (to Me, anyway) seem to be
    G1
    Beast Era
and Bay Formers (1st 3 or 4, at least)
as far as casuals or normies are concerned

Most popular? I suppose that depends on who you ask. I'd think generally it's gotta be G1, then movies, then probably Beast Wars.
I'm pretty out of touch with the modern shows though.

    I agree.

For what it's worth, Animated has spun out two now well-regarded legacy characters in Bulkhead and Lockdown. That has to count for something considering the original characters from all other cartoons since Car Robots/RiD have all but been ignored by Hasbro (aside from Sky Byte).

Three. Lugnut's RTS figure pretty much has become the basis of his appearance in movie and G1 comics (barring his Animated based cameo from Spotlight Trailbreaker/Trailcutter) and the RTS figure itself is basically the perfected Animated design barring the more realistic bomber coloration - it even has the POKE!

I really don't think about the comics. IDW was a communal dump for all characters great or small (and not actually G1, but that's a whole other can of worms). And I didn't even know there were on-going movie comics. I think Lugnut is one of those fan faves that Hasbro has a blind eye on...and until they start giving him his due, he's really not very "legacy". And, like I said, Prime's Knockout deserves more too.

There weren't any ongoing movie comics, but RtS is 'officially' supposed to mainly be movie styled given the majority of them were movie figures (Jazz and Tracks were the only exceptions, but my memory is a bit fuzzy as we're talking nearly a decade ago here). And Hasbro certainly doesn't have a blind eye to Lugnut given the RtS toy, as I mentioned, has the POKE - the Punch of Kill Everything. Even the name was created by a fan (the attack itself was revealed by Wyatt to be merely known as 'the punch' behind the scenes), and yet it's essentially Lugnut's signature weapon to the point the RtS toy's wings were built around what is more or less a spring loaded punch (which in alt. mode opens the wings to reveal missile pods), and the POKE itself became an attack in at least two ways as skills in Fall of Cybertron; POKE 2.0 and POKE Alpha. We legit do have a recording of Prime from that game saying 'Punch of Kill Everything'.

The reason Lugnut probably hasn't had much attention past RtS is because of the direction the franchise suddenly took following DOTM. I believe Lugnut was actually supposed to have been in Prime but was refused by Hasbro for some reason, so they came up with Breakdown to replace him (much in the same way Blitzwing ended up replacing Sixshot in Animated). And then Prime shit the bed, AoE decided 'fuck everything that came before this film', and TLK shit the bed even harder, and so we're stuck in this holding pattern of constant G1 homages with little attention paid to anything else besides the G1 glory days and some movie stuff because Bumblebee was actually good.

Until Lugnut gets past a one-off RtS comic, he's hardly a Legacy character by my standards unfortunately. Maybe someday Hasbro will give him more love they way they do Lockdown, Drift or Windblade.

Again, IDW is a dumping bin for characters great and small. One or two minor appearances in comics 7 or 12 years ago hardly a legacy character make.

Technically his appearance is being used in Cyberverse, even if it is a "brand new character." I heard that the writers really had to fight to get the non-G1 characters into the show.

We will have to agree to disagree, then.
