I think this was my first DVD as well. I also watched VHS for a long while after DVDs came out as well, like until 2004. I watched Big Momma's House and Monsters Inc. so many times as a kid, the tapes were so worn out they couldn't even play anymore XD

Can't remember and I've sold some DVDs that I used to own, so even checking my collection list doesn't help too much either. The ones that have been in my collection the longest are the three BW season sets and Beavis and Butthead Do America.

Akira Special Edition. It was $85 and in a big metal box. The only DVD player I had at the time was on my computer, but man did it look pretty.

i bought L.A. Confidential for a roomate back in '98 to watch on his PC.

my first DVD player was a PS2, some years later.

You won't believe this, but earlier this year, my mother bought a Blu-Ray player, and it has never been opened. if Dad gives it to me, it will be my first Blu-Ray, but i don't really need it.

I had a Samsung player for my fist as well. 807 if I recall.
Only reason I got that one was it had a remote control hack that made it multi-region, but it did have a few problems playing some films (R1 copy of The Matrix springs to mind)

I think it gave up the ghost so I replaced it with a Toshiba model that was about a quarter of the price of the original one. That one finally started to go a few years back so when I got my LCD TV I got a upscaling Cambridge Audio DVD player in a package deal for a great price.

I do remember what my first DVD is, but I'm not going to say. And no, it's not a porn film. First US import DVD I got was Rush Hour.
