For me it's all about nostalgia, so G1 all the way!
The rest of the sagas are very unappealing...
I'll take all the beast wars I can get. But I'd also like to see modern versions of the likes of Railracer and Omega Prime some day.
I want it all.
It's interesting to see how nostalgia plays into stuff like this. I have the most nostalgia for the Unicron trilogy, especially armada, but I wont argue its quality. Prime was the best of the cartoons in terms of quality in my opinion (yes I firmly believe its better than G1 if you take them both in a vacuum) and I'd love toys from that but Beast wars has a great story and characters, definitely better than in armada, yet I never felt I wanted toys of them. And then G1 is the king of nostalgia, hell a huge amount of my collection is based on second hand nostalgia for it, despite being a decent show but nothing exceptional.
That said, I honestly think the reason we don't see more non-G1 stuff is simple. The kids who adored the Unicron trilogy or couldn't get enough of animated are probably in the age range of 18-24 so are only just reaching the point of being able to afford expensive 3P things based on their childhood. That's why beast wars is now becoming all the rage, the demographic of beast wars fans now contains enough people with the disposable income needed. Give it a few more years and I can imagine we will be seeing more and more different shit. Maketoys tested the waters with their galaxy force starscream and it was a great figure but it was born too early. Now we are getting a fans hobby armada prime and a "transform and roll out" cybertron prime. How they sell will likely determine the direction of 3P, in the same way that the sales of GT-optimus primal and the MP-beast wars figures sold well and now more and more companies are working on it
Pretty much, as you said we're starting to see Cybertron stuff showing up, probably RID (Car Robots) and the UT will have more trickling in soon, by 2025 I'd expect Animated and Prime will have their own decent sized 3rd party share, though I expect that G1 will still be king.
For me the problem is that whenever a 3rd party company tackles one G1 character, 20 others do the same, if they stopped we wouldn't have to pick between a dozen different G1 Devastators and Optimus Primes and maybe we'd have some characters we actually want that we haven't gotten.
Alright I'm gonna say it. Seriously, the winning vote so far is more G1? The fuck is wrong with you people? Let another series have some time in the sun for goodness sake
Beast wars would be a disaster.
Look at people complaining on the Masterpiece Blackarania thread.
Great Bot Mode or a accurate Beast Mode.
Once the G1 Generation ends Transformers will go the way of G.I. Joe.
How many of you buy third party G.I. Joe Stuff?
What’s with all the Crickets?
Sunbow era G1 is pretty much done, unless someone needs a fifteenth Predaking.
My biggest request is: Victory, Master Force and Battle Stars. Toss the MicroMasters and other Pretenders in here as well.
Then, I'd love to see G1.5.
Don't forget, for us geewunners, the toys we had were poorly articulated bricks that usually didn't resemble how they were depicted in the cartoon.
G1 benefits the most from current modern day toy engineering sensibilities.
I would love to see Omega Supreme from the Animated line. Such a great character design that unfortunately never made it off the screen.
More g2 please .... hurry up fanshobby just tease us with a g2 megaton prototype
Hasbro STILL makes inaccurate and un-articulated figures like one-step changers. You can't seriously act like that's something unique to any one era of Transformers
Series like UT, Animated, Prime, and Bayformers already have several figures made with decent screen accuracy and articulation. I would love to see updated and improved figures from those series. But at least I own and enjoy the figures that already exist from their toylines. I can pose them, and they still look decent to good.
They can last me a bit longer before I might want to upgrade some of them. For the g1 toys, not so much.
Obviously Animated. Though the toyline we got is already magical in it's engineering, there are a number of characters that didn't get toys - such as the Constructicons and Omega Supreme - and on top of that a number of unreleased toys that deserve to have their designs see the light of day, for example Marauder Megatron.
But why is Animated lumped in with the Aligned trilogy for the purposes of this poll?
Furthermore, the number of votes for "G1 Only" is sickening.
I a G1 boy at heart but I want to see more diversity in the 3rd party market specifically the Beast Era, It needs more love.
I have one of each Perfect Effect beast figures and they are great and would love to see more.
So my vote goes to the Beast Wars.
I don't remember if I have already posted something here, so there it goes:
Beast Wars and Bayformers!
Late G1 (Pretenders), G2, Beast Wars, and Unicron Trilogy.
I suspect to avoid the issue I had when I tried a thread just like this: Because I gave everything a separate option and there was no space for G1 in the poll (partially motivated by the fact that I was asking which non G1 franchise would people want) and the thread became a ratio of about 1 actual contribution to the discussion of how third party should branch out : 150 GEEWUNers going on the attack at anyone having the audacity of enjoying anything other than G1. To avoid flames I would point out I love G1, I just also love other parts of transformers as welll.
How about Animated? I'd love to see the designs with modern engineering put in, and properly scaled this time.
