As you know there’s rumours that the next movie will be set in the 80’s. Even though the source isn’t trustworthy at all, I hope it isn’t set in past and rather it be set in modern times. We already had a movie set in the past. When do you guys think it should be set? Past or Modern?

Depends on what kind of movie it is:
    If it's a sequel to 'Bee, late '80s/early '90s.
If Paramount ends up just waiting a couple more years and rebooting clean, present day.

Why reboot a reboot that you have right now

Because then people watching the next movie will be confused as to what’s going on, if the next movie is a “Transformers” rather than “Bumblebee 2.”

Eh, I wouldn't say it's so much that, as it is Paramount's recent dire financial straits. I don't think they're at a point right now where they're gonna want to spend Michael Bay or J.J. Abrams levels of money on a franchise whose box office prospects are no longer a sure thing (that's why they've been trying to pander to outside investors on both Bay's TF movies and NuTrek - hell, that was the whole point of trying to get Hemsworth back for NuTrek 4: "Hey, look, investors - we got Thor!"). That's why I think whatever form the next TF movie takes depends largely on how long it takes for Paramount to get itself to a place financially where it can make another one.

Yep, I don’t see another TF movie coming out until 2022 the earliest tbh. Like you said these movies aren’t guaranteed money makers anymore. How are people saying it will be out in 2021? We’ve literally received no info yet. For all the previous movies by now we would have received info. But it isn’t just paramount being wary. I also think it’s them struggling to figure out a script. I’m sorry but Making a full reboot would result in them having to recycle soooo many ideas made by Bay back in 2007. CGI is as expensive as ever now too.... Finally, would a full reboot even be a guaranteed money maker? Like literally... just think about it.

Just reuse models from the Bee film, maybe make a few new ones, and it wouldn't have to be all that expensive, right?

Keep it in the 80s, maybe a year after Bumblebee; there's no real need to X-Men-style jumping ahead to a new decade with each film, IMO

As long as they stick to any continuity from before and don’t develop a new thing using the same characters from other continuities contradicting in the same time-frame. Or if they do new, then let’s do either with totally new characters (and better in the future and get more creative so we can see new technology) or with the existing characters, but in the future and don’t mess with the "same characters-same time-frame-but different continuity (parallel universe kind of thing))!

I see this happening. New designs (Not G1 or Bays) but a mixture of the two. And the next movie I see being a complete reboot rather than a “follow up” to Bumblebee.

Probably because he would prefer it to be a full reboot. Ever thought about that possibility

Which is what the BB film is now.

Copying and pasting doesn't exactly help in making your argument strong.

    Yeah, you’re definitely trolling.

So no, I don't know what you mean. Sorry dude, tough luck.

Bumblebee is the reboot we wanted, it's here to stay, and it'll begin a new storytelling universe.
