what you guys think the crew meant that TF4 is re-imagining of the franchise. a popular theory is that by re-imagining they mean reboot, but Nelson said tf4 is not a reboot and if i remember Lorenzo (the producer of the franchise) said there still some continuty in tf4 (meaning it takes place in the same universe as the past films) so what they mean with re-imagining since tf4 will be part of the same continuty
Altering the cast, maybe change a few voices, personalities, tweek some designs. Just basically changing or fixing up any little things they think could have gone better.
What I'm thinking too. It's going to be the same continuity with a different setting and protagonist.
I think TF4 will be decent storywise. How can they possibly mess it up? They have nearly a year and a half or so to get it right. And while DotM wasn't perfect, story-wise (and pretty much everything else) it was leaps and bounds better than RotF and was closer to TF1.
When I think of re-imagining what comes to mind is a film based in the same continuity, not a reboot, but something that takes everything back to its roots to recreate a brand new story in the same universe separate to the originals kind of in the sense of Star Trek, the future Spock is from the same continuity as the original, series which is also connected to deep space nine, voyager, the next generation and so on but when the Romulans went back in time through the black hole and caused things to happen that were not meant to it didnt change the future of the original series or any series that followed, instead it created a splinter universe that split off from the main one but it is still tied into the original series by featuring Leonard Nemoy as the original Spock, there for a re-imagining, hope that makes sense, so I feel this film will be based after Dark Of The Moon and will feature the same Autobots but going back to square one, new enemy, new threat, new humans, new story, same Autobots. I know some people may be pissed at the idea but I for one would love it if Megatron and Starscream came back as Galvatron and Cyclonus through the power of Unicron, I also think it would also be cool if Unicron merged the remains of the dead characters and merged the sparks of Sentinel and Megatron creating a new Prime, you could have him as straight up Galvatron or maybe even Nemesis Prime, thats what I would like to see anyways, but of course without revealing the identity completely of who brought them back till a later film if they decided to continue with the franchise after 4, I mean we still have no idea who created the Allspark, they could also expand on Vector Sigma or even Primus, there is plenty for them to work with for future films and plenty more Decepticons that can take Megatrons place.
I don't think we know what it means for sure at this point, but it implies a different "take" on the story, which could mean new characters, new themes, a new tone or mood for the movie, new settings, or new directions for the story to take, while still working within the core concepts of the films.
Re-imagining can cover so much territory from slight changes to massive changes that I have no clue at all what it might mean when it comes to the Transformers live action movies. Although I've got a suspicion that they used re-imagined instead of reboot because reboot is seen as some sort of horrible word to a certain subset of fans. Because Transformers is all about change, until it comes to the live action films and then nothing should ever change and it should be like it currently is forever.
I think Bay cut a deal that means he gets to make the film he actually wants to make while still doing a reimagined TF4 to keep Paramount happy. Expect to see 'Transformers 4: Pain and Gain' in the cinemas soon...
I think this is PRspeak that implies they will be making something that will remain commercially successful, but get more favorable recognition by the Academy and critics. They will do this by coming up with the fourth plot in a row not even good enough for a porn movie, retain very shallow character development of people and transformers alike, and blow up lots of stuff.
A "Re-imagining" is just another word for a "Remake" in movie parlance. I honestly think that Paramount had no idea what they're talking about when they said re-imagining, unless it really is going to be sort of a remake. GI Joe Retaliation is a good example of what could happen. It's a sequel to Rise of Cobra, but it has almost nothing to do with Rise of Cobra other than the beginning of the movie is Cobra Commander breaking out of prison after Rise of Cobra. Much of the cast and characters are different, and even the costume design and weapon design is completely, totally different. Transformers 4 could be the same. It could be a sequel with nothing to do with Dark of The Moon with a different cast of characters and a whole new, almost unrelated storyline.
