Yes! We're trying this again, so long as enough people share interest! Since certain parties were interested. EVERYONE is welcome, so long as they follow the rules!

The year is 2380 AD. Humanity has outgrown earth and stretched into the stars. Those who remain on earth are violent relics of an earlier time. Nationalism and pride are the guiding tenants. They wage war for resources and power using a combination of augmented and inhuman beings, manipulating the hideous art of ontolomancy to bend and tear reality to suit their whims, and draw strange entities from stranger places.

During a final, apocalyptic war, all parties are virtually annihilated, and the earth itself and all life on it is left in a state of massive chaos and upheaval. As billions of human beings perish below, a few remaining scientists and military officers flee the epicenters of destruction aboard swift, stealthy airships. None of them make it. The cataclysm is thorough.

But not all life is destroyed. As a well-armored ship crashes to the ground below, each and every human-being onboard perishes in the crash, or dies of starvation and exposure shortly after. But within a handful of insulated pods onboard, inhuman life persists. Harvested from civilian populations, experimented on, summoned to this plane, or created artificially, a handful of beings, meant to be the seeds to the next generation of metahumans and inhuman warriors, live on, as the ship's crippled reactor continues to trickle power to the cryo-tubes.

It will not run down to nothing for approximately 1,600 years.

When the pods' occupants awaken, it will be to an utterly unfamiliar world, full of plants and animals and people and things that find them as alien and frightening as they do it. With little actual survival and combat experience, these adolescent inhumans will have to work together and unravel what has happened during their sixteen-hundred year nap if they want to survive.

Welcome to "What They Carry", a scifi-fantasy RPG set in a world where humanity as we know it has been dead for more than a millennia.

Before you get to make a signup, I have a few ground rules:

-No transformers, or beings/concepts EXPLICITLY from other franchises. I may make exceptions, but think carefully on how it'll work in the setting, and ask permission.

-At the start of the RP, only one character per person will be allowed. NPCs and stuff are ok, but they'll generally be controlled by me or a mod, until everyone who signs up has a feel for who and what does not belong in this world.

-Characters can be basically self-inserts, or totally original! Think carefully, however, as you'll have to flesh out any original characters very carefully in order to come up with appropriate powers, etc.

-HAVE FUN! Is the subject-matter of this roleplay a tiny bit depressing? More than a tiny bit! But it was and is not meant to have a grim, grey tone! Life is filled with adventure and comedy and tiny beauties, even at its worst, and this roleplay is most certainly meant to reflect life. Make jokes. Do silly stuff. Explore. Chances are, real people human or not, would too.

    Now, onto the character format:

Name: It can be your real name, an alias or nickname of yours, or just a name you like.
Age: Use your real age, or whatever feels right, but stay within the 13-25 range. These characters are supposed to be very young. Barely more than children.
Species: Exact origin will be explored down the line, and will be very relevant ti your characters. But for now, put down "metahuman", "hybrid", or "nonhuman". Metahumans are humans who were experimented on or otherwise endowed with strange powers and features. Hybrids are crosses between humans and inhuman beings. Inhumans are creatures who were summoned or brought to our world as infants and raised as humans.
Gender: What, if any, pronouns does your character go by?
Appearance: Have some fun, here. Be creative. Metahumans tend to be the most human in appearance. Hybrids are somewhere in the middle. Inhumans may not look even remotely like people. Be fairly specific. Four sentences at least.
Personality: What's your character like? Are they you within the context of the roleplay, or something totally original and different? Four sentences at least.
Primary power: Your character's central ability. Connected with your emotional state. Based off you/your character's flaws as a person. Generally destructive and dangerous in nature. A weapon, in short.
Secondary power: Your character's secondary ability. Connected with you/your character's desires or strong-suits as a person. Generally defensive, creative, or passively helpful in nature. Your secondary power will generally exhaust your character fairly rapidly.
Tertiary power: An optional third power. No limitations this time, but it must not be objectively helpful in a battle. Strictly passive in nature.
Weaknesses: What are some physical and personal shortcomings of your character? List at least two.

Beyond what is stated in the signup, the only rules and limitations are pretty common-sense stuff. Don't godmode. Don't make a godlike character. No insults , rudeness, or flame-baiting unless it's in-character. And have fun...

The last RP was really fun, so I'd love to take part in the new one.

    Name:
    Evangelyne

    Age: 19

    Species:
    Metahuman

    Gender:
    Female

    Appearance:

Personality: The Eva you're dealing with really depends on how much her head hurts. You see, Eva has almost a constant migraine, tied into the usage of her powers. At it's base level, the headache is a mild annoyance, enough to somewhat distract her from conversations and interactions with her friends. This is where Eva is able to express herself the best. A kind, motherly type of person, always trying to make those around her happy, feel good. Unfortunately, this love triggers her secondary power, which begins to intensify the migraine. You'll notice her starting to grit her teeth, tears starting to well up around her eyes as the pain becomes worse for her, her soft smile fading away. Eventually, it'll get to a point where she's either trying to activate her primary power to dull the pain, or an absolute mess on the ground, weeping as the pain takes control, knowing she wouldn't be able to activate her power without getting those around her hurt.

Primary power: Eva has incredible strength in hand to hand combat, able to just start punching and not stop, her endurance and stamina becoming much greater than that of an average human. This power is like heaven for Eva, as when she's out there fighting, the headache disappears in it's entirety, it's the only time where she feels alive.
Unfortunately, getting her to stop is a challenge. Once she's out of enemies? She'll turn towards her allies. The kind Eva you were dealing with before is gone, as she runs at you with her fists raised, wondering in the back of her head why you look so scared and unhappy, as she's never felt more alive in her life. Of course, it ends the second she lands a punch, realizing what she's done. At this point, her better aspects will take over, and typically her secondary power will activate, and the headache will begin again, tears flowing from her eyes at the thought of having hurt those close to her, and the pain beginning to seep back in.

    Secondary power:
Eva has the ability to emanate a feeling of ease and comfort amongst her allies. It has about a twenty foot range. At the furthest away from her, you'll merely feel a sense of hope, like there's a voice in the back of your head telling you "everything's gonna be alright." When you're closest to her, in physical contact, you will have never felt more comfortable, warm and happy in your life. As said above though, this triggers the migraines again. While you're sitting there next to her, feeling amazing, Eva's most likely crying from the pain. But she knows that she's making the others feel good, and that's all that matters to her.

    Tertiary power:
A master cook, someone who can make even the most basic, seemingly inedible ingredients palatable. A good skill for surviving a long time in the wilderness.

    Weaknesses:
As said above, Eva's pain has almost complete control of her life, It can either turn her into a rampaging monster without regard for those around her, or a mess who can't do anything but lie down and cry. She uses her secondary power way too much, caring more that the others are happy than herself.

    Name: Trish

    Age: 17

    Species: Metahuman

    Gender: Female

Appearance:A human female of slim build with light skin, blue eyes, and naturally pink hair tied in a pony tail that reaches to her shoulderblades. Trish wears a dark brassiere connected to a necklace patterned in tiles of alternating shades of mathematical symbols. She wears a short skirt half covered with roses, short leg warmers, and walking boots.

Personality: Trish acts arrogant and selfish, but in really its an act to hide her insecurities as a person. She has a sense of loyalty towards her friends that can only truly be described as nonsensical. She's deeply driven to achieve her goals, most of which include finding her own way in life. She has a tendency to over look emotions and hurt peoples feelings as a result.

Primary power: Trish's main power is the ability to transfer all of her insecurities into a monstrous manifestation that attacks for her. The manifestation is semi-autonomous and requires a lot of energy from Trish to be stopped from attacking.

Secondary power: Trish can transfer her desire for good into life energy making her able to bring inanimate objects to life for short durations of time.

Tertiary power: Trish can also generate a spitual manifestation that gives moral support, a cheerleader in otherwords.

Weaknesses: Trish is highly insecure and thus acts arrogant to hide it. It's caused her to lose many friends and prevented her from making others. She also fears her own abilities and tries to use them as little as possible.

Both accepted!! But I think maybe the healing ability is a bit excessive, and sort of removes the tension that the idea of Trish hurting allies provides. Maybe remove it?

    Otherwise, great!

I'll put my character up inna bit. I'm. A little distracted.

Sounds like it'll be fun to give this another go.

    Name: Steph Lawton
    Age: 19
    Species: Metahuman
    Gender: Female
Appearance: Steph is a white female who's height is 5"8' and blue eyes. She has long brown hair which she lets hang down and a birth mark on her shoulder. She typically wears a blue pair of torn jeans and a white sleeveless shirt. She is always barefooted and has a shark tooth necklace, as well as a gold broach on her arm, containing a small emerald.
Personality: Steph is the adventurous sort, always exploring and always climbing everywhere. She'd rather be outside in the wild rather than cooped up inside. Always up for some fun, she finds that her best thinking position is upside down, dangling from something. She feels at one with nature, and often finds her safe relating to wild animals more than other people.
Primary power: Steph's main power is crystal manipulation and generation. This can be used for many purposes, though primarily as projectile and creating armour to protect herself.
Secondary power: Steph is extremely athletic and agile, being able to climb objects with ease, and leap longer distances due to wilder life. She is also a quick runner, though not to a superhuman extent.
Tertiary power: Steph is a good forager, being able to easily find edible berries and fruits.
Weaknesses: Steph can often get Claustrophobic when inside small, enclosed rooms. When she has crystal armour, her athleticism is slowed down and she is less agile.

I guess I should put in my character.....

    Name: Max

    Age:
    18

    Species:
    Hybrid

    Gender:
    Female (trans)

    Appearance:
Max is an almost inhumanly tall (6'9"), well-built girl in her late teens with a delicate-looking face, pale skin, honey-colored eyes, and long, wild auburn hair. She'd be the sort others might look at and call "beautiful", "statuesque", or "classical" if she weren't very visibly sickly and constantly fatigued. An artificially-created hybrid between human and monstrous outsider, her mixed, imperfectly combined genetics render her chronically ill. Dark, purplish circles show around and under her eyes, her skin lacks color and looks slightly scaly in some places, and her extremities are thinner than they should be and tremble often when she exerts herself.

Oh. And upon her back, often covered by the warm, thick clothes she favors, are a pair of large, semi-feathery white wings, dotted with wide, unblinking amber eyes. They appear relatively compact when drawn up to her body, but, when extended, stretch over 15' altogether, with many of the eyes peering from her feathers much larger than human eyes.

    Personality:
Max is fairly withdrawn unless the situation calls upon her to help others, which brings her a bitter sort of happyness. After long years of being closely supervised and controlled by the scientific personel who created her, Max is fiercely independant despite her disabilities, and will often resist assistance even when she needs it. She can be slow to display her affection for others, as, in her experience, people are often disgusted by her inhuman appearance and frailty. Max is not always fast to solve problems, but she is a good thinker, with an analytical mind. Given time to put her brain to a situation, she can very often hatch a plan or solution. But if put on the spot, she's prone to faltering and panicking. Traumatized by her creators during experiments and tests of her abilties, she can be prone to panicking or shutting down under certain types of stress.

    Primary power:
Max is a potent, but uncontrolled telepath. She can direct powerful stabs of kinetic force, squeeze with crushing strength, lift heavy objects, and temporary halt or control the movements of others. Her ability is not effective against targets more than 25 or 30 feet from her, and she must have a very good idea of where her target is to act. Additionally, she is drained quickly by this power's use, and if she's not careful, it can leave her bleeding from the eyes and nose, or even cause her to black out.

    Secondary power:
Max is capable of keeping others alive. She cannot heal them, but, through touch, she can sustain the life of even the most horrifically injured. More ghoulishly, she can restore the relatively recently deceased to a sort of life, so long as she is in contact with them. The use of this power has an addictive quality to it, and Max finds herself sometimes perversely hopeful of someone needing her specific brand of "help". As soon as Max loses contact with the individual, nature will re-assert control. The dead will be dead again. The dying will continue to die.

    Tertiary power:
Max is capable of an unsteady sort of flight, with her eye-dotted wings, when not overly exhausted. She can draw her time in the air out further by bolstering her wing-power with her telepathy, though that is dangerous and very draining.

    Weaknesses:
Max is physically weak and easily tired despite her enormous stature. She has issues breathing, and, when she pushes herself too far, can even go into something like an asthma attack, or pass out altogether.

    Appearance:

Personality: Very quiet though she might speak so as to relieve social tension, terrible people skills, rather blunt at times, easily bored, and normally calm.
    Primary power: Mild pyrokinesis.
Secondary power: Clawed toes and fingers.
    Tertiary power: Really, really, fast.
Weaknesses: Mildly accident prone, bad with conversation, poor eyesight, not too good with water.

    Name: Sprite

    Age: Unknown, estimate around 14-15

    Species: Inhuman

    Gender: Male (transmasc)

Appearance: ((will create a reference picture soon enough))

Personality: Pin is a beast with a heart of gold, to put it shortly. He's quite sweet and physically affectionate to those he cares about, but gives the coldest shoulders to those he despises. He always has good intentions in mind, even if his actions don't quite follow up sometimes.

Primary power: Green fire. He has strong pyrokinesis that grows in intensity whenever he has strong negative emotions. When his emotions spiral out of control, his powers do as well; whenever he's livid or breaking down, his flames burst up into an incredible yet deadly plume.

Secondary power: Despite his deadly first power, his other one is quite useful. He can head even the most brutal of wounds in a snap, though the bigger the wound the more exhausted he gets. Cuts and scrapes are pretty much effortless to heal, but more serious ones like brain trauma and broken/torn limbs take a lot of energy.

Tertiary power: He can actively sense the emotions of those around him. Someone's he'll get overwhelmed by the amount of emotions surrounding his and he'll have to move away from the sources.

Weaknesses: His emotions. He has great emotional fragility, and he can be easily manipulated.

Looks good, @Pinpoint , and I'm happy to accept, but would you be willing to modify that tertiary power so it doesn't really overlap with Tronski's character's power so much?

It can still involve emotion, just... Maybe not actively soothing like that with an aura. Maybe Pin can sense emotions in others keenly? Thanks!

Also, anyone else with any intentions of signing up should do so pretty shortly, as I plan on getting this show on the road not too long for now! A couple days at MOST, and then signups for this beginning arc are closing, and anyone who wants to participate will have to wait a while.

    Name: Zio (Zee-oh)
    Age: 19
    Species: Meta-Human
    Gender: Male

    Appearance: (TBA)

    Personality:
Zio is a sarcastic and very cold person. Though he does care greatly about those he is charged with caring. He can't afford to show he cares since it's seen as a weakness. He can't afford to be weak to protect others. So he can be harsh at times but, he means well. Zio is a fucking mess.

Primary power: Zio's main power lies in his emotions. His mask and actual emotion of coldness makes his skin almost invulnerable. Even giving him a small boost in strength. Yet he can take blows. However a moment of letting his guard down or feeling other emotions his power will fail. So he must be cold and calculating.
Secondary power: Zio believes in protecting others so letting his emotions run rampant initiates a armor protocol. In where his willpower will form an armor. If broken off it will come back. However this armor is not fully protective and, can cost him his life if used too long. Yet can also go terribly wrong.
Tertiary power: Zio is an empath. Feeling the emotions of those around him. Rather used in the case of helping others. So he's able to give some form of advice. Also shows that's not a cold asshole.

Weaknesses: Zio is very closed off. He comes off as cold and snarky. He wants to get past this barrier but, has not much trust and faith in others. Which also contradicts his need to help others. He's a mess.

I sort of figured, based off what you said on Skype. Slightly longer descriptions would be nice, and you might benefit by going over just to see what YOU think might work better.

Sorry for the hold up, here's the bio:

    Name: Aelric Tarrel
    Age: 24
    Species: Hybrid
    Gender: Male
Appearance: Aelric's body consists of yellow and black armor fused to and bound together with sinews of natural and synthetic muscle. He's nearly seven-and-a half feet tall and very lanky, almost spindly at the waist and around certain joints. A yellow mask somewhat resembling a cross between a gas mask and a knight's helmet; his two, glowing red eyes are set deep under a slit in the mask, and a seam along the mask opens like a mouth when he speaks (that part of the mask being fused to what's left of his jaw). No organs are visible under his chest plate, but there is a glowing red stone set in his collarbone that pulses like a heart. ((Basically, he was turned into a Bionicle.))
Personality: Aelric seems to always give off an air of quiet desperation—the sad, distant look in his eyes; the reluctant tone of his voice; the slight slump of his shoulders. However, he refuses to dwell on his troubles, instead masking his feelings with stoicism and throwing himself headlong into supporting others with a sort of paternal loyalty. He takes great comfort in seeing those he considers friends thrive and will readily sacrifice himself for them. He may have been influenced in this chivalric motive by hearing stories of knights and their adventures as a child; these same stories may have also made him a bit of a hopeless romantic.
Primary power: Aelric can directly drain the life energy of any living organism to fuel his own abilities. He can apply this effect at range with sufficient concentration, but this power is much more efficient if he is in contact with his target.
Secondary power: Aelric can channel his energy to temporarily buff the strength and endurance of a target. The more people he boosts in this way, the more quickly the buff runs out.
Tertiary power: His body gives off a low level if heat due to whatever processes keep him alive. Thus, he can be used to keep warm during cold weather.
Weaknesses: Aelric can be somewhat cynical and extremely self-deprecating; he can be driven to distraction by the resulting depression. His augmentations have left him somewhat clumsy. His armor is susceptible to rust.
