Been really liking the new tf4 optimus prime been going out of my way to try and collect the most of what I consider to be a good version of him but just recently seen a update on tformers of a hot toys tf4 optimus prime and that thing is of course going to be the best looking optimus to come out but is also going to be the most expensive well out of my price range and even if I had the money I still would not buy it because that's just way too much in my opinion to go on any collectible regardless you are going to spend a good chunk of money buying a figure here and there to complete your collection but your getting more figures for the money and still not spending as much as you would on a hot toys but here's my question is there even a point in collecting a character knowing in the end you still won't have the holy grail of the collection.
Yes, because then you wouldn't have anything. Also, I think this was the holy grail of run on sentences.
No intention of being rude- I think it would help to add some punctuation in your post. It's hard to follow. If you enjoy the other versions, then they're worth getting even if they aren't the holy grail. Also, does the Hot Toys Prime transform?
There is merit in collecting Transformers even without one's particular "holy grail." Sure, you might not get the "grail" so to speak, but at the very least, you are doing something that you enjoy, plus, collecting through the years allows you to see how the toyline evolves and changes, which imo is quite an interesting sight to see.
Definitely this. Besides, it's always fun to "want" something because once you do have it, what's next after that? At least until you look online and find something else to want after that. But to the OP, you're also right that once you do have that kind of money, it would be hard for some, like me, to want to lay it all down on a single toy when it could be used toward more real world needs. One of my holy grails was G1 Fortress Maximus. I knew I was never going to have the kind of money a mint complete vintage one would bring in nor the time to buy and piece one together. Thankfully, I was able to solve part of the problem when Takara announced the Encore but he was still pricey overall at around $300 so to make it easier, instead of using my paycheck to buy it, I sold off parts of my collection to get him and I have not regretted it, but I do remember the years since his original release how bad I wanted one.
