Similar to my other thread regarding Soundwave about what alt mode options you guys would like for Megatron. He's the notorious leader of the Decepticons, and, like Soundwave, his alternate mode has been rendered a non option by the passage of time, because of toy gun legislation, and Hasbro's changing position on the matter. Let's not debate about that here, that's a whole nother can of worms I don't really want to open. So, what is the best alternate mode in your opinion for Megatron to have? Is it a Tank? Is it a big intimidating aircraft? is it something else entirely? Is it even an Earth based vehicle?

    Let's see some opinions!

Edit: I should clarify, there is not really much legislation, at least in the United States, at the federal level, however, the fact remains that Hasbro's position is that they will not make a realistic toy gun.

Personally I like the tank mode the CW leader transforms into. While the G1 gun mode was cool, it was really odd for the super imposing leader of the Decepticons to have an alt mode that requires being carried by one of his lackeys...

While I prefer a Tyrannosaurus, attack helicopter would also work for me too.

Tank, just like Leader CW Megatron. Too bad he's gigantic for my collection, so just ended up going with Hegemon.

A Voyager Megatron that turns into a tank (and isn't anything like Mega Steel Granville) would be my ideal though.

Im as close to a G1 purist as they come, but Megatron always felt like a tank to me.

Can't beat the gun, but Megatron's design works as a tank very, very well.

As far as I can tell, that stealth Bomber was one of the best Megatron designs we've had.

I was thinking that would be good alt mode, sort of like a modern canon .

    Megatron-modern cannon/mobile artillery
    Galvatron-space laser cannon

Unicron would reformat megatron into a more futuristic alt mode of his prior self

Slightly more Cybertronian looking tank & jet triple changer.

Never even bought the toy because he was so absurdly small. But I think that may have been mu introduction to the design and I was impressed.

For a while there were rumblings of a larger 3P version coming. Seems like that's overdue enough to probably just be dead though.

It doesn't need to be debated. There is no debate. You're just simply wrong about toy gun legislation. There are NO LAWS preventing someone from creating a toy gun. The ONLY thing you need is a blaze orange tip. That's it.

I chose G1 gun since thats how i know and like him.
However a big compromise, if i had to choose, to todays standards, id choose a triplechanger from a realistic tank alt and an imposing gun for combiners to hold.
Make the gun a cybertronian version of its G1 self.

    Other.

The great thing about the gun altmode was that it was pretty unique. And I like Megatron having a unique altmode, or at least a not common altmode. The downside is that the leader of the Decepticons is dependent on others holding and firing him, making this in fiction less impressive. And as a toy, the interaction with the other Decepticons is thus less: unless he's very tiny, the other figures can't hold him. And a huge gun amidst cars, jets and other military vehicles, just looks a bit off.

That makes a tank great. But a tank is rather common, making Megatron no longer unique.

I'm going for an Earth based, stationary artillery mode, like this Lego version:

It's still is an offensive form, it's unique among the ranks, and it gives Megatron extra firepower in altmode.

The legs and a backpack form the support, the torso and arms the main body of the altmode, the arm cannon the targeting scope (like with the G1 gunmode) and the barrel on the back the main gun.
