Well bought some G1s from a seller (from the Facebook TF groups) thru Paypal about a week ago (last friday). Within 24 hours, he said he had shipped it out. I then asked him to update me on the tracking number. He deliberately avoided me (read my messages but didnt reply) only until a week later where he said he is unable to give me a tracking number as he had lost the receipt. Should I give him the benefit of the doubt and wait for the package to arrive (from UK to Singapore - so around 10 working days) or should I open a dispute thru Paypal and get a refund? Its either Im being scammed or paranoid lol Thanks for the help!
Sounds like you should at least give it 10-14 business days before opening a dispute with PayPal. Most small sellers are individual humans and not looking do deliberately scam anybody.
Uh.......no. I'd give it the 10-14 days then if he still won't reply you should start the dispute. Try to give people the benefit of the doubt.
yeah, this. Whatever you do, don't wait till the last minute to open a dispute, but by the same coin, who ships out a ton of stuff and doesn't note the tracking #? Especially when you can print postage at home from within Paypal. Give him 2 weeks, but don't sleep on opening a dispute after that.
I believe you have 45 days through PayPal to file a dispute as long as you didn't pay for it as a gift. (double check the 45 days, its been a really long time since I read the PP ToS and they change that often). Put a reminder in your calendar for a week or two before the cut off. Hopefully it doesn't come to that. Shipping over water can feel longer if you're impatient. Good luck.
dispute after the 10-14 days , if your stuff does not turn up and he has no reciept you will get your money back from paypal easy
When I shipped my stuff, I took a picture of the tracking number before I even left the post office. Did the seller have any feedback (positive or negative) from other members in the Facebook group? It may have been an honest mistake. And I sincerely hope it is.
It happens. I had someone here on the boards lose my tracking number, and I got my package fine. Give it 10-14 days, like everyone else says. If you payed by Goods & Services, PayPal should take care of you.
I'm getting a "Swingers" vibe from this thread: Mike: So how long do I wait to call? Trent: A day. Mike: Tomorrow. Sue: Tomorrow, then a day. Trent: Yeah. Mike: So two days? Trent: Yeah, I guess you could call it that, two days. Sue: Definitely, two days is like industry standard. Trent: You know I used to wait two days to call anybody, but now it's like everyone in town waits two days. So I think three days is kind of money. What do you think? Sue: Yeah, but two's enough not to look anxious. Trent: Yeah, two's enough not to look anxious. But I think three days is kind of money. You know because you... Mike: Yeah, but you know what, mabey I'll wait 3 weeks. How's that? And tell her I was cleaning out my wallet and I just happened to run into her number. Charles: Then ask her where you met her. Mike: Yeah, I'll ask her where I met her. I don't remember. What does she look like? And then I'll asked if we f*cked. Is that... would that be... T, would that be the money? Trent: You know what. Ha ha ha Mike, laugh all you want but if you call too soon you might scare off a nice baby who's ready to party. Mike: Well how long are you guys gonna wait to call your babies? Trent, Sue: Six days. But yeah, I would wait beyond the 14 days, especially considering it's an international shipment. Obvious there's no right or wrong, but after 3 weeks I think you're more than justified in filing a dispute.
