it's almost Halloween, so we gotta start enjoying the season. my question: What story did your parents/grandparents tell you about where you lived that scared you the most? I have 2 short ones: The Hole that Never Stayed Filled- it's been (finally) buried by the re-routing of a river, but it never stayed filled. a minister was murdered by hanging, and they had to dig a hole so that he could hang high enough to die. over the years people put things in that hole overnight and the next day...empty. i have been there myself and it's uncomfortable at the least. In a little town not far from me is a grave where they say the man buried there plays his fiddle and kicks up the dust. even in the daytime, i don't like being there.
