I am going to make my first transformers custom, just repainting the pink parts of Skullsmasher olive green so he can be a stand in Megaligator. I was thinking of taking the legs off and using painters tape to mask what I don't want painted and using spray paint. is there a different paint I should use? I want it to keep the transformability so I am not going to use acrylics which is what I used for my JLU customs

I've heard nothing but good things about krylon fusion. Otherwise I think the most important thing is to get a primer that bonds well to plastic. There's a krylon fusion primer and krylon colormaster primer with "fusion technology" (which basically means it's fusion under a different name). I found a good primer at home depot: can't remember the name of it. The important thing is to make sure it specifically says it bonds to plastic.

With a good primer, you can pretty much get away with any type of paint you want. I mean within reason obviously. I've heard good things about automotive spray paints on customs. Personally I've only dabbled and it never went well because I didn't understand the importance of a good plastic primer. Then just last week I did a simple custom paint job with acrylics on top of plastic primer and it's nice and solid: doesn't feel like it's going to peel off like acrylics always have for me in the past.
