I’d like to see a toyline where every vehicle is in real life scale with each other as opposed to being dependent on the height of the character in the cartoon.

Cars would be core class. And other vehicles such as tanks and jets are in that same scale.

 

Another one has come to me, one I've brought up before but I suspect that HasTak may not be able to afford the budget for it and might be something for the 3rd party companies that go for creativity instead of recreation.

I think that the Evolution gimmick from Power of the Primes Leader class figures is one that has a lot of promise, but perhaps taken in a different direction. The best visualization of this gimmick to me was Fansproject's Protector upgrade for Classics Rodimus, so perhaps somethinglike that.

I'd say perhaps taking it in a direction more to an original take, as opposed to trying to take on the classic designs.

If Hasbro did it, then perhaps the next cartoon after Earthspark (naturally Earthspark won't last forever, hopefully it won't be the last Transformers cartoon) could use this as the premise; Perhaps 'Optimus Prime' is a title or alter ego and the protagonist of the show is Orion Pax.

If it didn't limit the play-ability too much an additional gimmick could be that the Matrix forms part of the locking system for the armor, if they could engineer that in a satisfying way it could be cool.

An additional possibility for the concept could be that Megatron also possesses an evolution gimmick but in his case his core bot form would be a fairly simple and generic transformer with a mining vehicle alt mode, with additional modifications to make him more heavily armed and imposing. Perhaps he could come with some form of mining equipment that he replaced with his fusion canon.

 

More driver/pilot seats, either with the headmaster, targetmaster or such.

 

Using licensed vehicles.

 

I actually liked the planet key gimmick along with the auto morph feature

 

Dynamic head reveals. Loved it in animated.

 

I don’t really like gimmicks, so I can only hope none are added. I think they generally compromise the core concept of “robot-to-something-else”. I don’t really even like the idea of combiners or triple-changers because extra modes means all modes are less than they could be.

I don’t consider the following to be gimmicks, but I like the suggestions:

 

Does triple or more changing count? I love that shit, even if it invariably make a mode suffer its always fun to play with and always require clever engineering.

 

Movieverse-style Pretenders. Honestly think there's a lot of potential for stories about Transformers who disguise themselves as humans. Could sort of be a PG-rated Terminator, but sharing the same universe with Optimus and friends. What wouldn't be awesome about that?

Might not be your first thought for 'minor gimmick' considering it's the tagline of the brand, but there's relatively little "disguise" in a brand about
"robots in disguise". Would love to see that concept get way more attention. I honestly think it's a huge shame and missed opportunity that we haven't gotten an entire spy-themed show about the Autobots going on secret infiltration missions and whatnot...there's endless potential there.

 

Titanmasters because I like how having compatible cockpits and cabs keeps a uniformity in vehicle scale.

That and I want to see the unreleased Actionmasters from Botcon using Titans Return molds get released as well as retooling them as Pretender inner robot updates like TR Metalhawk.

I'd also like to see the Japanese exclusive Starscream Titanmaster repainted and reissued so I can turn the various repaints of Nitro Zeus into Seekers.

I have 6 nieces and nephews between 12 and 7 and of all my Transformers, the Titans Return figures were the ones they seemed to like the most. They still go back to them.

They liked the interactivity between the Titanmasters and the various vehicles and gathering all the Titanmasters and Primemasters together so they can be fed to Trypticon.

 

Whenever I come across the title of this thread, my brain initially sees "Grimlock" instead of "gimmick". The brain works in mysterious ways.

 

Probably impossible in today's economy, but LED swords so the world can experience the Laser Rods again.

 

New combiner teams. Back when Combiner Wars was first announced, I thought they were going to introduce brand new teams along with updating the classic ones. Outside of the botched execution of Victorion, all we got for "new" teams were characters that never were combiner members to begin with. Did Wheeljack, Ironhide and Hound really need to become combiner limbs? Did Cyclonus have to become a combiner torso? These lazy retools really didnt help the stagnation of that line.

 

Duocons are so cool and yet we have only had four toys and two characters

 

Isn't Overlord technically a duocon too?

 

Build a figure. But instead of a known character like Maccadam it will be a new unamed transformer. Every wave will have one and the Parts can be mixed and match between waves. It would be nice if the build a figure transformed too. It will be a great way to army build passively.

 

I love it when they build-in compatibility with other figures. an easy example is when micromasters can drive around on titan-class figures. Another is fitting cars onto ultra Magnus's trailer

 

I miss the fireing gimmick

 

Pretty sure those got phased out due to safety concerns. Miss them too, but hey, makes finding complete figures on the secondary market much easier.

 

The Powerlinx gimmick from Energon was pretty fun...not sure if they can engineer modern figures to do that without making the gimmick intrusive for those who do don't care for it.
