I also really wish they kept in the scene where Shockwave was crushed by Unicron.

Man I wish these scenes had been animated as shown, it would have been awesome! I can think of plenty of other scenes that could have been cut instead.

Unlike most I wouldn't change the movie, including the deaths of all our heroes, except that I would show the fates of all the original characters as intended, I think every original bot deserved screen time in the movie, even with a nasty ending.

I can see why they cut the Dirge scene. It ruins the flow of that conversation.

 

Cool but I'm kind of glad these were cut to be honest.

That's probably true, however I have always loved the scene with Sideswipe, Tracks, Red Alert and Ultra Magnus vs Devestator since I saw the storyboards on youtube. I wish it was animated at the very least so we could have an extended version of the movie on DVD etc.

 

Yeah. This really would have been a perfect addition to the movie. Forego all aspect ratios, get the entire screen in there, animate the missing scenes.

 

Matching the animation style would've been hard and we would've ended up with Combiner Wars clips instead. I also don't think The Touch really fits with Devastator winning that hallway fight. So now you have to either go back to Battle of Autobot City or compose another track that, again, has to fit the style of a movie made 3 decades ago. Oh and do it all for free because the studio needs a 7-digit profit from a shrinking market that waits for clearance sales on everything.

 

I personally think the movie is better for the cuts, both ruin the flow of Prime's heroics/killing spree.

 

I personally feel all of those scenes would have fit right in the movie.

 

I agre with other who have said that adding these scenes disrupts the flow of the Optimus scene.

But on the plus side, it means we saw Magnus do something. It was one of the things that I always disliked about the movie: Magnus didn't do anything during the siege of Autobot city. He gives a command and then vanishes right upto the point that Optimus is dying and passing on the matrix. If we had seen him fight in the movie like he did in Five Faces (or the rest of season 3 at the cost of giving Rodimus great fight scenes: Magnus fights Galvatron more that Rodimus does), maybe making him the next leader would've made more sense. But then, he doesn't do shit after getting the matrix as well.
