It's emotion. After having seen it for the first of many times yesterday, I have to say this was a TF movie on a more emotional level than all 3 other movies. When a autobot died in this film, it was actually hard to watch (Ratchet and even Leadfoot. Hell, I thought Brains being tortured in that chamber in order to comply with the humans was fucking harsh). And for the first time EVER, when a random human character dies..people in the movie actually care. We never got a scene similar to Lucas's death scene before in the TF movies. Easily the darkest scene, really in all 4 movies. Yeah, we saw people in chicago get vaporized but they NEVER touched on that it just went straight to "find the girlfriend. shoot the pillar down". The dead of Chicago were only really given attention in AOE. But Lucas...I felt he didn't deserve that, especially given how he was the one who was in the most fear for his life. And then you legitimately felt Optimus and his autobots' rage towards humans as it's continuously highlighted how sick and tired they are of them. Overall this movie makes the last 3 look like a joke.
Yeah,it was very emotional..Lucas's death shocked me too, didn't see that coming. And Ratchet....he gets his leg blown up,shot at,blasted, torn apart, got his spark extracted from his chest and melted. This was the darkest and maybe the best of the 4 movies(can't decide)
I second this ^^. Combined with the way more fluid and expressive body language and facial empathy from the TFs, it's way more easier to emphasize and feel with/for them. If they had done this (cheaper/shortcting cgi models so it's easier to animate them) in the first place, it might not have taken three movies to get to this point (tho' i did/still enjoy the first three, it's jst AoE is such a step above what we had). We can only go up from here.
Well said. I pretty much find myself feeling the same way about the film. It was an improvement over the last films, for sure. The scene with Ratchet's demise made me feel a mixture of sadness and anger, I feel the emotion was handled better this time around. The movie has its flaws, but overall I really like it, and think it's a big improvement over the other films. I was also pretty shocked with how Lucas' death was handled, it was pretty disturbing, and easily sets the tone for what's to come.
I honestly felt that Lucas did deserve it. I mean, come on, that asshole sold out Optimus behind everyone's back.
I absolutely agree, my friend! After watching this film I can't watch the first 3 the same way again! I still love them but.....this takes the triple chocolate cake for me!! Heck, the scene when Cade accidentally said "him" about the truck....I felt the tension! I thought "damn it Cade....shit....come on Optimus! Rise up, quick!" Lucas' death... Wow.....I'm speechless Ratchet's death.... Damn....I really wanted him to escape! He went out bravely! Optimus would be proud! Leadfoot's death....yeah it was quick...but it was sad When Lockdown captures Optimus and Tessa.... I felt the emotions off Cade! It was a great scene! And hearing Optimus telling Cade to get the Autobots....I was feeling their fear I really liked Optimus and Cade's relationship, I wanted more scenes between them! I loved it whenever Optimus was shouting "Cade.." Overall this is MY favourite "Bayformers" film
EH, it was about on the same level as Ironhide's and not-Wheeljack's death for me; overly harsh and trying to prove this shit is for real, yo. Snitches get stitches. All kidding aside, and I hate to say it, but I breathed a sigh of relief when his character died. I thought for sure that the film was going to be saddled with his comic relief character.
all of this. To me it's little things like this that make me like this film. Robot interaction, different characters, less bumblebee, better acting, oh and HERE I AMMM!! AOE FTW
