Unfortunately, this is an older ATI card. There have been reported issues with it as well, but Apple hasn't really responded to the complaints. I've read that reapplying the thermal paste and re-seating the heatsink (or even removing a bit of tape blocking exhausts) can help and I'll definitely try that before tossing this one for parts, but I'm not looking forward to opening the case again. So many tiny screws!
One of these: Was my grandma's (my 87 y/o), but she unloaded it on us. All I know is it was released in 2005 and was made by Toshiba.
I have two VAIOs, both z series, both with their display chips burnt out. I use one as a mock-desktop and it's hooked up to my tv and sound system, but the fan is broken and makes an annoying buzz sound. My everyday pc is an asus eeepc 1000h netbook, which i recently upgraded to 2gb ram and windows 7. it's small, it was cheap, my vision is more fucked than ever, and it's hard for me to type on a full size keyboard, but it's what i got. I might someday upgrade to a higher power notebook, or just go Mac.
An Acer aspire one netbook. It's tiny, runs about 5 hours on batteries, and is powerful enough for just about everything but games.
I have HP Pavilion-zv6000 laptop. With 2.0 GHz AMD Athlon 64 3200 processor, 3 GB RAM and 160 GB Hard Disk. Its display size 15.4 inch with Windows 7 Professional Operating System.
A MacBook Pro that is a few years old (I'm in art school.) It also has Vista on it which actually runs pretty well.
HP dv7t. Quad core i7, 6GB RAM, 2x250 GB HD. If you're looking at one, splash the extra $100 for the dv8t. we have both models here at work, and the dv7t have far more issues with networking and the graphics card is underpowered.
Mine's a Compaq Presario CQ60. Got it for my birthday earlier this year. It's the second laptop I've had. My first one was a Compaq, forgot what model it was but it had Windows Vista. Still have it, but it needs to be disinfected.
