I work for a major casino on the gulf coast. I woke to an interesting story. I'll sum it up in a picture. My casino is the only one that doesn't lay off when times are hard. But we all take hits to our pay to spead the loss around. It's fair and saves jobs but when people do this... It affects my pay too. She's practically stealing from all the employees. Not just some casino. Discuss.
A casino is about the dumbest place to commit embezzlement as they watch the money like a hawk if she had been working in the Casino proper she would have been caught a lot sooner that she was.
They knew for a while. They waited to see if any other players came to light. I know there are more. I just hope no more were friends of mine. I knew this girl. For two years... This is insane.
I don't see what is the problem here. The bet is about her showing up to work. The house lost each time.
The only ones who lost out were the other hard working employees. The casino got it's money back because they were insured. But the employees still had to take hourly hits to cover the losses before they figured out it was theft... It's just irritating how selfish one person can be. She wasn't paying bills or feeding some nonexsistant kids. She was buying expensive clothes and plopping 250 a hand at blackjack at another casino.
No different than fraudulent returns at an 'evil' big box retailer because they 'make their money' or people filing false insurance claims. The honest ones pay for the actions of the dishonest.
how does that work? If the house doesn't win, does that mean you have to take the loss? Do you not have a set wage? Also, ironic that she was robbing from her employer to feed a gambling habit at another casino. You'd have to wonder if any of your own customers ever did something like that...
Actually in the casino industry it's not very uncommon to lay off people during the slow times. Treasure Bay takes pride in never laying off. But what they do is spread hourly cuts around. First on a voluntary basis then mandatory to meet needs. It's more fair than the "last in first out" approach that the other casino's (even the one she played at) take. We do Have hourly wages. I make 10.05 myself but when I lose 2-3 days a week mid spring it's a problem with 2 kids and a divorce. Plus I thought of her as a friend... So i'm also hurt.
48g + the money it costs to jail her for 10yrs , minus the 25 G's in fines = Dammit woman *shakes woman*
the big gas companies, banks & insurance companies steal far more than anyone else can dream of stealing.
