What is the thing, mostly design-wise, that you love most about transformers? Door wings? Those helmets they seem to be built into? The weird gundam-like crests that bots like G1 prowl have? What?

Mine is transformers with no mouth. That is my fetish.

Optimus, Grimlock, Wheeljack Soundwave and Shockwave are examples where Shockwave is my favorite.

I think it has to do with them looking more alien and less human.

What do you think? What's your deal?

the stance maybe? I like slender, but solid bots, with a clearly defined skeleton and silhouette. Head design is very important as well.

blockienes of G1 cartoon

that you can see what they transform into by the various parts (like cardoors, nosecones or tanktreads) in robotmode

the head designs with a built in helmet

oh...and the big lower legs...oh yeah...those feet *drools*

Fetish ddoes have more than one meaning. The second could be applied to the OP's question. However, context kind of throws that out the window here.

Anyway, I prefer chunk and obvious elements of the alt mode incorporated into the bot mode. In other words, the G1 asthetic. The larger BW figures did this pretty well too.

The Primal, Megatron, Tigerhawk, Rampage, and Depthcharge fihures are all stellar. Some of the deluxe and mega class figs were even pretty solid.

 

You've never heard someone jokingly call something their fetish as a way to describe a specific non-sexual thing you like? Although in this case it is almost sexual for some people apparently  

Lots of great responses here! I like the sword/gun thing like with mp Grimlock and much of my warhammer but I like a shield/gun or sword better

The G1 style aesthetic that Prime streamlined - larger forearms than biceps, larger lower legs than thighs, etc. Love mouthplates to the extreme. And incredibly outrageous and gaudy color schemes.

 

I like 'em... tall and slender.

I AM referring to robots, you know. Guys like Animated Blurr and Prime FE Starscream are good examples.

Also, I love a good asymetrical transformer. And guys that fall under both the slender AND the asymetrical categories really push my happy button.

Probably explains why RTS Wreck-Gar and ROTF Lockdown are two of my favorites.

 

Parts of the alt mode built into robot mode so you get and idea of what they transform into and little kibble/robot junk.

 

I have a couple.

I love weird applications of chrome. I think it stems from beast wars transmetal and g1, but I love gaudy and ridiculous chrome. Like transmetal optimus with a blue chrome chest as a monkey, or silverstreak's random chrome back windshield. This is why I actually love AoE leader class grimlock!

I also like quirky alt modes. I like the streamlined alts that something like the masterpiece line gives us, with sleek lamborghinis and perfect fighter jets, but I really have a sweet spot for those ridiculous and totally not "in disguise" alts like chromedome. A brown, cybertronian-esque body with a lifting dome of a windshield instead of doors and two gigantic guns on the back.
