My favorite has gotta be his g2 comic design. He manages to both look like the original toy and look heroic. I'd love a new voyager toy of him to fight Jhiaxus, but I doubt that's coming any time soon  

 

I love the Cybertron version.

 

It's hard for me to say what my overall favorite Optimus Prime design is, but I personally love his G1 design from both the Marvel comics and the cartoon, his Armada design, his Cybertron design, his Bayverse design (from the first three films), and his design from Animated. All solid if you ask me.

 

That's tricky... I've narrowed it down to 5 (not listed in a ranked order):

- Powermaster (1988)
- Beast Hunters (2013)
- IDW Cybertronian design (2006/2011)
- IDW "Earthfall" design (2014)
- Fall of Cybertron (2012)

 

I also like TFA, Cybertron, Armada, RID, Powermaster, and the BBM looks.

 

There's a lot of great ones so it's pretty hard to pick a single one... but I've always been really partial to his Micron Legend look.

 

These chunky guys are part of my childhood after all.

 

Galaxy Convoy.

 

Classics/Henkei always felt like the best medium between G1 and modernized Optimus design to me.

The Don Fig IDW design is essentially the same, but cleaned up and streamlined.

And base form ML Convoy is great for throwing out some other Optimus Prime design norms.

 

RID Optimus Prime:



Along with the previously mentioned Cybertron Optimus Prime.

 

I'm finding that I enjoy several versions, but the G1 is simply the one that defines it as being the original, all other end up having to be follow ups to it. Not that some aren't great, but the simplicity of the G1 just wins it for me.

 

War With In Prime, is the single most badass and cool thing in all of transformers.

For as much as I love Magnus/Elita/Slipstream, when I see this Prime? Suddenly he is on the running for my favorite character and design in the franchise.

 

Cybertron has a really good design, War For Cybertron (game) Optimus is baller. The '07 movie design is kinda neat, I actually like the headsculpt. Machine Wars OP looks fairly interesting, Animated is great.

I wouldn't say this is the best design ever, but this Star Convoy by Guido Guidi looks fantastic.

And while it's not official, I love this design by Enzomus Prime

I'm a fan of the classic super robot proportions so... I'm just falling in like with other people Cybertron/Galaxy Force. THS01 (so far) has hit the nail on the head best but with the Third party ones on the horizon I can see one of those taking it's place for best toy representation.

Also have to give credit to Power Master OP, RiD01, Henkai/classics and the Alternity designs but often it's also down to who is drawing it. I've seen some people "save" Energon prime just by doing some tweaks.

Energon Prime imo isn't a bad design once you fix up some of the proportions... a thing the original toy and animation model messed up
