Unless you want to include some obscure prototype or mismatched color or something, my vote would be for the Unicron of Light. I have no idea what that went for originally if you had the opportunity to buy it.

Gotta be a Lucky Draw or a Prototype... Definitely something of that nature.

I've seen this topic many times...there was a lucky draw or auction type Binaltech Mazda, limited to 1 piece.

That'd be my guess too. I think that was a Lucky Draw and limited to only 1 piece was it not?

If we're counting prototypes and such, then I'd say that Beast Wars Neo Unicron proto.

Doesn't count. There is not even one like it anymore.

The rarest figure is likely, as some have said, some of the rarer lucky draws, promotional items, and prizes (I'd say prototypes and test shots are exempt because they were never a "final" product). For some of these items, such as Gold Beast Wars Convoy, very small numbers are known to have ever existed (10 in this case), but some, like Custom Color Galaxy Convoy, were one-of-a-kind. The value of these figures is really not explicitly known (it's worth as much as someone's willing to pay, after all), but it would easily be in the thousands, or tens of thousands of dollars in many cases.

There are several pieces that are one of a kind, however the most expensive and coveted one is the g1 unicron prototype which was last reported to have sold for $20 000

I knew a guy who worked at TRU years ago who said he owns the only G1 Unicron since his grandpa was the president of Mattel.

Thats actually kind of interesting - it sounds like bs at first glance, but there were a few reports some 15 years or so ago over on bigbot about a TRU exclusive store display only put on display in a handfull of stores - I got a grainy pic of it on one of my HD backups somewhere of it. Unfortunatly the quality is so low that it's hard to make out...well...much of it really - I couldn't tell if it was cardboard, inflatable or plastic, that's how bad it is, but it is a fuzzy unicron in bot mode, roughly 3 feet tall. (camera isn't focusing on it, it just happened to be in the background)

First hand reports were...sketchy as to if it was a toy, or a cardboard foldout in the shape of a toy, or something inflatable like the planet store display and nothing was ever confirmed as far as I know.

But, if your friend actually worked at one of those TRUs, then he might just have nicked it and made up a bs story about how he got it.

Real longshot - but it's possible.
