I've heard the Rally car just being called Rally but I'm not sure if it will have an important name or not because we haven't seen anything on the toy sheets. I was kinda hoping he was Smokescreen

No it is actually a very valid speculation. There is a lot of "secrecy" of the identity of the Rally car. It could very well be one of twins who could perish in the movie saving the humans to redeem himself for the audience.

 

Twins weren't in DOTM in robot form. I doubt they'd return now.

 

I really really think it's just a car. It was probably just included in the "autobot" photoshoot simply to show it off, marketing value. I mean, they can't really have a completely separate photoshoot just for one car and say "hey this is in the movie too."

 

Again if its just a car and GM wanted to showcase it, fine. But why is Paramount now have it up on the movie site?

 

Same reason. It was part of the photoshoot. It has marketing value for GM. It's Shane's ride and we already know it's involved in one of the main action sequences (the escape from Cade's farm and the arrival of Lockdown).

Apart from tinted glass to hide the driver (which is a very common thing, especially when your driver is a professional stunt driver and not the character who's supposedly driving it), I've not seen anything to indicate it's a Transformer. I really think it's just Shane's car.

If I'm wrong it will be a pleasant surprise, and I do hope I'm wrong.

 

Jolt was killed by Shockwave in rising storm, and Skids and Mudflap were killed when they tried to save Bumblebee from Sentinel´s shot

 

To advertise it? In the end it's all about the cars on set, but if it's Skids man that would be hilarious.

 

I HIGHLY doubt that since they weren't in DOTM and are considered racist

 

It's probably just an original character that's going to dies in about 10 minutes after it's reveal, that's just my guess.

 

Since there is so much secrecy surrounding the Rally Car, I doubt that it is a new character. I mean, they revealed most of the other named character in the movie with no problem, like Hound and Crosshairs, so if it was just a new Bot, why all the secrecy?

It has to be a special character reveal because they have hidden it so well, so I say a survivor from DOTM. It also has to be a TF because it was driving without a driver. Bay will never have the Twins in the movies again at all, in any form though. Basically, they just don't exist.

 

It's just got tinted windows - which could just as easily be to disguise the stunt driver inside during action sequences. Shane's actor isn't going to be doing the driving himself if the scenes are dangerous.

Lack of information =/= secrecy. It could simply be that there's nothing to it.

I'd be pleased to be proved wrong, of course, since I love me some Transformers. IF it's actually a character, my bet would be on Smokescreen. He's often a rally car and he's gotten a lot of exposure recently.

 

Although I have always liked this point, the twins could still return. I have said this many times, and I will say it again, Bay doesn't give a rats ass about the comics unfortunately. A good example, I really liked the Reign Of Starscream series...but Crosshairs was in one of the issues, and looked like a completely different character. So again, the comics are cool...but they do not correspond to the validity of possible characters in the movies.

@ the 30 sec. mark, is there any driver? I can't see any, but I'm never good at spotting things.

Don't you find it weird that in a Movie line that is focused on getting only onscreen TFs that the Sonic will get a set?

And yes, while it is true that the lack of information does not equal secrecy, the lack of information can be a great indicator of something they are trying to hide. Look at Sentinel, who was rarely talked about before the movie and obviously had a big role.

If the Sonic is a TF, I'd want Smokescreen as well, or even Cliffjumper.

 

I don't find it weird. It's an ad for GM vehicles. The Sonic is a GM vehicle, and it's got a role in the movie. None of those vehicles had visible drivers....and the same is true for a lot of automotive marketing and photography. The focus is supposed to be the cars.

The ad also ignores the whole "Trax are Decepticons" issue and shows them driving along with everyone. That doesn't indicate a big plot twist that they collectively change sides to the autobots....

Like I said...I think we're reading too much into things. I think there's no information on it because it's not a thing.

I also agree that it would be cool if it WERE a thing, and I really would like smokescreen.
