What if a future TF film opened with Primus and Unicron's battle?

I'm imagining an epic Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring style opening, probably Optimus narrating:

At the dawn of time, as life began to flourish and exist, there was one being who found all of existence a stain.... this being was the Dark God, Unicron and he sought to destroy everything... planets were reduced to rubble, but Primus took arms against his evil brother.

(We see Primus and Unicron battling)

For eons, Primus and Unicron battled. The balance of power shifting between them more times than could be counted, eventually Primus created the Thirteen Primes to fight in his stead.

    Prima
    Vector Prime
    Alpha Trion
    Solus Prime
    Alchemist Prime
    Nexus Prime
    Amalgamous Prime
    Quintus Prime
    Liege Maximo
    Megatronus Prime
And the Thirteenth Prime whose name has been lost to history

These thirteen took up arms against Unicron

(We see the Thirteen battle Unicron, Unicron even biting down on Prima)

It was in this moment when all hope had faded that the Thirteenth Prime made one last stand..

(The Thirteenth Prime exposes his spark to Unicron which knocks him offline)

Unicron was defeated... Primus became one with the planet Cybertron... eventually giving rise to the Transformer race, the Thirteen are gone, what became of them has become legend, legends become myths and old habits die hard.. as peace is hard to maintain...

(Optimus Prime and the Autobots fighting Megatron and the Decepticons)

I do not know what became of Unicron. If he is still out there in the cosmos, I fear for the universe's survival.

We see Unicron in planet mode....

Unicron: That which does not become part of me shall become one with the void....

Maybe not exactly this, but I think it would be pretty epic to see realized since we've never seen it outside of comics.

Didn't we see it in Transformers: Cybertron?

Oh yeah, you're right, I forgot it was Optimus/supreme who fought Unicron and primus just got to stomp dire Starscream and close a black hole. Man, what a lack of a payoff.

It'd be pretty cool if we got to see a version of the battle described in the Marvel storyline.

Despite having been thrust into the mainstream for more than a decade there's still a lot the general audience just doesn't know about these characters, their beliefs, their culture.. because the movies never told them, and what those movies did bother to tell them wasn't much.

The scale doesn't support the ideology/ethos, obviously, but, the demotion concept of the Maximals and the Terrorcons relative to a Primus and Unicron opening is still the way. Behind the lack of consumer commonality, for a Primus/Unicron depiction, the beast war edition of consumer sociology (the sociology, of its detail, consisting of the emerging consciousness theme of the 21st century meaning the audience logic of spoilt access to inclusions in consumer products) is very much valid, as a mechanism, as a scientific method for Unicron and Primus to be depicted in the opening, but, not at the end of the movie, as that denigrates the sexuality of the consumer sociology pact with the studios.

How about we don't bother with the gods and we just get a simple Autobots vs Decepticons film where the Decepticons aren't trying to kill Earth/Humanity, just the Autobots?

That's not an opening, that is a climax. Once you have planet-sized robots fighting it out, there's nowhere else to go. That's why Gurren Lagann didn't start off with that and waited to the very end.

Yep. A clear sign of the priorities of the $$$$$-struck people behind these films: they operate on the mantra of, "Hey, let's make another celluloid cash cow, continuity, logic and care for the IP we're adapting be damned!". . .

Personally I'm sick of the whole "Primus, Unicron, 13" thing they've been doing in almost every continuity for the last 15 years.

Unpopular Opinion: Unicron has never been handled well and like all "doomsday/blowing up planets" tropes, it's been done so much that it's become a cheap way to try and raise the stakes. Sometimes smaller, more personal stakes can be fare more impactful and I hope they don't go the "Unicron is coming to eat earth/cybertron!" Route in Beasts.

Oh goddamn thanks for reminding me I gotta rewatch Gurren Lagann sometime. God I love that show.

I'm not about to try to invalidate your opinion but I thought he was excellent in Armada. He actually symbolized something. Him being created by the hatred the Cybertronian race holds made him essentially a monument to all of their sins, and they had to look inward and conquer their own hate to stop him.

Most Unicrons are simply meaningless. They're just evil and that's it. Sometimes they call him chaos incarnate and there's potential in searching for value in chaos and addressing why it is or isn't good but they never actually do that with Unicron.

He wasn't so much created as it was he sustained himself on the bloodlust that was generated from an eternal war. That's why to further his objective, he created the mini-cons as fragments of his own power, to cause the war in the first place - it's why his face in profile is the mini-con logo, as well as why he didn't do anything to prevent the mini-cons from leaving as the war already showed no sign of stopping so he was still getting what he wanted. But in the end, he was the secret true antagonist of Armada from the beginning, instead of just being this godlike entity that randomly showed up to consume everything (much the way he is in the Dreamwave Armada comic, complete with G1 Heralds that get their shit pushed in by Megatron + Air Defense Team/Star Saber). It really is the best use of Unicron to date as a truly godlike entity, more of a 'man behind the curtain' kind of way, and made him more than simply a big destructive force - indeed, he doesn't benefit from the war being over, so the perpetuation of it being his goal is a unique twist.
