Halo if you ignore everything post-Halo 3, neither if you don't.

Even Transformers' best stories don't have the detail, lore, and attention to continuity Halo had, especially the novels. That was until Bungie decided to throw all that away with Reach, breaking continuity wide open for a cringey fanfic-style "look it's a team of SPARTAN IIIs which are one better than SPARTAN IIs and also the main one is HYPER LETHAL just like Master Chief isn't that cool he also is chosen by Cortana just like Chief was aren't these new Spartans SO AWESOME!?" (And Reach ain't even bad, it's just a painfully obvious addition to an already completely and cohesive story that didn't need to interfere the way it did and Bungie was arrogant as hell by thinking they'd created characters "more iconic than Chief could ever be" :lol )

Sadly that was the beginning of the end. Suddenly the gates were open for revisionism, books had to be re-written to accommodate Bungie's new OCs, and once Halo 4 came along things just got fucking dogshit dumb. What used to be a universe of mysterious allure and, for lack of a better term, cavernous ambiguity became a by-the-books revenge plot where the formerly unknown Forerunners now had names, faces, and stupid as hell new technology and motivations that gradually eroded the simplistic quality of Halo's previously straightforward exploration into a vast and ancient mythology. Oh how I wish Guardians wasn't a thing.

Transformers' backstories are almost 100% of the time stupid as hell and not worth the time or exploration, and to be totally honest I can count on one hand the amount of stories I genuinely consider "not shit." I'd say on average Transformers' stories are better than post-Reach, but far worse than pre-Reach.

For the love of God no you'll summon hi-

    God dammit.

Can't vote for Halo as it never appealed to me whatsoever, so TFs wins by default.

The main trouble of TFs is that the original story/plot has been retold, changed, modified, reused just about everything a new version comes out.

And all of them are seriously flawed in many ways.

But that said, there's a reason that it also endured for so many years and part of it is this flexibility to be reinvented over and over.

Halo is limited to a narrow audience and will fade at some point, and ask around, most people have hears of TFs and know the basics of them, while Halo, I'd expect a LOT of blank stares.

Seriously speaking, I voted Halo. I think most of it is a more serious and cohesive attempt at creating a fictional universe and story than Transformers has attempted.

If we take the very best example from both franchises, It's a dead heat. Heck, even if we take the average over the lifespan of both properties, it's a tie. They both have the potential to hit you in the gut with great story or amaze you with deep lore. Both have transported me to a living, breathing universe worth exploring.

If we take the very worst and give the victory to the least worst, then I thing Halo wins. Barely.

Does this include basically everything after Halo 3? Because Halo 4 and 5 had atrocious stories and characters.

These aren't even really comparable anyway since they only share a few things in common to begin with, it'd be like asking if Star Trek is better than TF, how do we begin to approach that?

Halo's universe outside of games is a pretty good attempt, kinda like how Transformers comics outside the G1 cartoon were good. That's about the only comparison I can think of. Hard to compare a universe with a dull space marine with multiple universes of wacky dumb robots.

Was that really necessary? I hate getting thread bumps due to blocked people...

    AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

HALO is just like every FPS: Wolfenstein with updated graphics and different controls. No FPS has brought anything substantively new to the table. At all.

Ah, yes. Halo, the game with 3 guns and a knife with no jumping or recharging shields mechanic. I also hate how all the enemies walk directly at you and shoot. Would've been cool if when you killed an Elite the smaller guys would flee. Also would have been so cool if you could drive or fly in vehicles. Damn, I really wish we could innovate something better that Wolfenstein 3D.

It feels like a trick question, given that two franchises are rooted in different media. Frag, Transformers aren't even truly rooted in media - they're rooted in toys and the first lore came from bios. Of course that would give Halo, rooted in videogames, an unfair advantage with them having a solid continuity where as Transformers... we all know their situation regarding continuity.

Then again, Transformers were indeed subjectec to various reinterpretations, have various settings and even premises. Certain pieces of the franchise of the lore can stand against Halo, especially when it comes to the same medium (WfC/FoC duology, say) where they're comparable.

...still, trick question, heard many good and bad things about both, vote Transformers by default as I didn't try anything Halo but did encounter fine TF stories.
